Thanks - it is a 2 -D 4 pin fitting and yes it does come back on its own afetr some time (have not timed it)

have just replaced a ceiling light in kitchen and had to replace the switch as well ( 2 gang 1 way) which also works the under cupboard lights (which work fine). all seemed well BUT the ceiling light goes OFF after after 10 - 15 minutes !! I realise that I might need to get an electrician...
