This was the answer, although the two monoblock spanners I have will only interlink in one combination; luckily that was the correct combination for my situation!

Don't waste your money on that rubbish, get a Rothenberger tap spanner, which will fit any size backnut.

One of these should do the trick.

invest in a bullfinch, change the nozzle for whichever situation you like, keep a rothenberger for the small/awkward ones :wink:

No point in buying cheap entry level rubbish, just get yourself a Rothenberger quick fire 2 and a Rothenberger pipe slice. Then buy a length of copper pipe and some endfeed fittings. something like Fry Powerflow flux and leadfree solder. Then practice away As generous as the guys on here...

Paul you can get the rothenberger rofrost electric kit from ebay. they appear from time to time but come in around £200+. good piece of kit with two heads and a seperate control for each. Surprised it took three cans of gas, was the pipes clean of paint etc and the system cold only asking cos...

We use the Rothenberger at work with MAP gas, excellent torch and very durable (it has been dropped a few times!).

Very good torch this. Had mine several years and still as good as ever! Mapp gas burns the hottest.
