Neighbours have built conservatory style room using our wall - Detached House

If that was aimed at me, then was only trying to ‘see’ the problem. Think OP is out of luck anyway, despite the obvious annoyance of the potential neighbour. Building control and planning have no remit as a conservatory, and we presume the structure itself is not unsafe. Legally I can’t see...

Neighbours have built conservatory style room using our wall - Detached House

Does this conservatory cause any real inconvenience to you? I'm struggling to visualize which outside wall of a detached house a neighbour could adjoin to whilst simultaneously overhanging an extension off of the same house? Unless ofcourse their conservatory is taller than the single story...

It's beginning to look a lot like......not the Brexit you hoped for....

They keep asking awkward questions like, “erm... where you off to with that briefcase of 40 billion pounds?” Very distracting!

2004 EU Freedom of Movement Law - Never implemented

Both main parties spent a long time passing their own failings off as the big nasty EU’s fault... kind of back fired now! Quite a lot of the EU laws were optional, and there was always the French option to ignore the rest ;)

It's beginning to look a lot like......not the Brexit you hoped for....

I'm sure some old people (over 45's!) feel their future is blighted by young people. :) It's only fair that inexperienced youthful optimists are given veto over the experienced wise to the world oldies ;)

And.....?? So 18-34 were in favour of remain. 35-44 are pretty much 50/50... certainly within the margin of error. And the rest were leave? Can we assume that an 18yr olds vote is worth more than a 45yr olds vote?

Yes, make more sense not to post incorrect information. :) So what does your graph tell us... I think it is that of the people who turned out to vote, the majority favoured leaving over staying. This is very old news now.

It's beginning to look a lot like......not the Brexit you hoped for....

Is that an actual fact? It's just that according to ONS, only 18% of UK population (65,648,054) is over 65.... that's just shy of 12m (11,816,649). Electoral Commission says 94% of over 65's are registered to vote... that's just over 11m (11,107,650) Ipsos MORI puts the over 65 turn out at...

Out Of Plumb Wall & Missing Mortar

Haha, didn't meant to spam up the boards. Thought be easier to have as 3 separate issues in the appropriate areas of the forum. :)

Out Of Plumb Wall & Missing Mortar

I know a completion certificate was issued by council, and that it was signed off via a private firm. What I can’t get my head around is how, given the issues shortly after. Those electrics for examples by the consumer unit are obviously wrong (unless that happened later!) Would the private...

Out Of Plumb Wall & Missing Mortar

Looks like (hopefully) the pipework was redone. The manhole cover on the right image is there when we visited. I should be getting the building inspector report at some point soon... should make for interesting reading.

Argh, hadn't even thought about the drains under the floor! The pipes were already running under there on the way to an old outside toilet, but presumably should have been appropriately bridged when the concrete floor was laid. I guess no way of telling how well that's been done without taking...

Out Of Plumb Wall & Missing Mortar

You are right, the more I think of it, the worse it gets :( Problem for us is that this is the first house in a fairly long time in searching that fits the bill for us - and the wife & I agree on! The extension is slap-dash, no doubt about it. Looking at planning dept docs, and speaking to the...

Thanks all for the replies Pictures of the roof are here, another area of concern unfortunately! https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/repaired-flat-roof-can-it-be-tested.492468/ I have/had decided not to go down the survey route initially. Few reasons for this, mainly being quotes were coming...

Out Of Plumb Wall & Missing Mortar

Thanks for the quick reply :) Just looking at again now, and two more things have caught my attention. 1. You can see the damp proof course on the first close up picture, but not on the second. Looks like the pointing has breached it, or it's non-existent. 2. I'm assuming that's the cavity...

Out Of Plumb Wall & Missing Mortar

It did seem when we was there that it started to come out on the top rows. How do I tell if it is the roof pushing the brickwork out, are there other things to look for?

Out Of Plumb Wall & Missing Mortar

As per my others posts, we are looking at buying a house, but have discovered a number of defects. Latest one is that the rear wall of the recent (<5yr old) extension seems to be quite out of plumb. Is there a certain amount of tolerance on this, or a point it becomes unsafe? Supposedly the...

2 year old radiator sprung a leak - Screwfix (& how much inhibitor required?)

Taking a radiator off is definitely a job that needs some prep! I tend to cut open some of the recycling bags the council insist of giving us every other week. Using that as plastic sheeting, including one taped around the pipe. Then some old towels on top of that. Close both valves, then undo...
