    Soak aways

I've just been through this with my extension. I researched and did lots of calcs for roof areas and rain fall rates all as per the building regs. And note the regs state the a soakaway has to be 'designed' !!! My BC officer couldn't gice a monkies about it !! Rule of thumb though...

    Scale drawings?

Are you sure you actually need permission for it? You may be able to do it under your permitted development rights. The only exceptions would be if it is exceptionally large, high, near a boundary or in a conservation area. I'm sure you've already done so, but it may be worth swatting up...

    Building over-hand........can you?

As above, it is very difficult and brickies don't like it but 'health & safety' or more specifically the 'Manual handling regulations 2002' does not preclude this. As long as the elements being lifted are not to heavy i.e bricks as opposed to 7n blocks, there is no reason it can't be done...

    Planning application requiring method statement...

At a glance I'd suggest deepening / enlarging the two foundations that run at 90 degrees from the house and then connect the two with a shallow re-inforced groundbeam for the long run that runs nearest the tree. This may lead onto and mean you'll need to get a structural engineer to design...

    Water Tight Lean-To

I'd suggest not doing it at all if you are moving as it is unlikely to add any value.

Planning Application for building ext. without Architect

Did mine. All hand drawn as well on A3 !! Not quite as pretty as a cadded or architects effort but it saved me a load of cash.

White plastic surface mount boxes.... Why do they have an earth connector in the corner ? Do you have to run an earth cable to it, seems a bit pointless, please enlighten me ?
