How would you re-wire/lay out this circuit?

This is my point I suppose. Apart from a safety perspective, but it it all looks ok and works I don't care about the paperwork. If I ever sold it, the buyer might. My thinking is that there is no difference between moving into a house that had this DIY work done prior to my moving in, and me...

How would you re-wire/lay out this circuit?

Urgh, well if that's the right way to do it then so be it. Just annoying finding a sparky to do it. So lets say I buy a house. And I want a certificate because it looks like the previous owner has done some rewiring (all be it decent quality but no paperwork to say it was signed off) I would...

    Sand Cement Render Internal

And I was just going to throw a load of muck behind it for dot and dabbing. (To save me endless drilling into rock solid old nori bricks) Food for thought. thanks. May do this in the office for HDMI/Network cables.

    Sand Cement Render Internal

Its the Black layer between the first few courses of bricks. so DPC? I think I fond the water source, the boiler had a drip of water outside that was running down the wall instead of to a drain, it was acidic, so I think eroded the mortar and was then working its way into the cavity, for 10...

    Sand Cement Render Internal

Sorry to hijack EdTurtle. Just curious. Hmm, It could have been Bonding perhaps? Not sure. I t was basically compacted powder. Just age? The floor was also at a level over the DPC so I assumed the damp just wicked right up the wall from the floor? one or two course of bricks there were also...

    Sand Cement Render Internal

I would also like to know this. I had to knock a few inches off the wall all around the kitchen when I moved into my house, since they rendered down to the floor past damp proof course. it wicked up to about 3 foot from concrete floor and caused most of the render to turn to damp dust over the...

How would you re-wire/lay out this circuit?

Oh, another reason I need to rewire then. From what I saw there was about 3 dotted under the floorboard upstairs hallway. I assumed its to split the upstairs/ downstairs socket wiring, its 2.5 twin and earth. 4 coming from each round junction and running off to other rooms etc. I think there is...

How would you re-wire/lay out this circuit?

Seems like there is much to study then first. Thanks for the info. I will look into the things you mentioned before planning. This is what I was after as I didn't know the correct wording etc. Thanks

How would you re-wire/lay out this circuit?

How would you re-wire/lay out this circuit?

How would you re-wire/lay out this circuit?

Appreciate the reply regarding this. I was just curious. I didnt ask when moving in and perhaps should have done as a lot of regs were not followed. Wires buried diagonally across room etc, old live wiring just cut under the floors etc. I will get someone to come look once its done. Getting...

How would you re-wire/lay out this circuit?

There is black rubber wires under the floor cut, but given I didn't die when I licked it. I assumed it was very old and someone was lazy and left old junction boxes in place under the floors... Unrelated but I did panic when I saw rubber wires cut leading to junction boxes. Lazy workmanship...

How would you re-wire/lay out this circuit?

I am trying to future proof where possible with other things in the house. But didnt extend this to the lighting. So thanks for the extra thinking now required. Didnt even cross my mind to do voice activated :) I like it. But my other half will likely tell me to just get on with the normal...

How would you re-wire/lay out this circuit?

I appreciate the heads up. But I was under the assumption that general replacements are ok for DIY? Just no NEW circuits? New lights, new plugs, new switch, new wires are ok as one off fixes? If I take the... replacing the handle then head on an old brush without calling it a new brush approach...

How would you re-wire/lay out this circuit?

I want to re wire my lights in the house before I plaster and lay carpet upstairs. My downstairs lights only consist of 3 blooms. (1 in living room on a 1 gang, and 2 in the kitchen on a 2 gang) given a clean slate how would this be done? It has 90s wiring and it very sus. It works. But kitchen...

Blue? fuse tripped while working on circuit that was off...arching?

Hopefully:) I'm suprised it did that if the fuse was off while working on it. Does it still have current when off. I'm sure I'd have known about it being live when touching the wires to replace switch. Just confused me.
