    240V MR16 Lamps

Can anyone confirm whether these MR16 lamps that are 240v are illegal in the UK? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=271190275560& I bought some, thinking they were 12V but they sent 90-260V ones! They seem pretty dodgy.

Is it possible to terminate SWA inside this box?

Yes, but I wouldn't. It doesn't look a very good quality box and will be likely to flex and fail under the weight of the swa.

CCTV Cameras Interference when cameras powered by same PSU

Yes sent power down as well as video and have used a twisted pair for video and a twisted pair each for + & - It is a switched mode DC PSU & the runs are about 10M each. Why is it not a good idea to run the cameras & DVR from the same transformer btw?

CCTV Cameras Interference when cameras powered by same PSU

Update - I've now fixed the problem by putting the DVR and camera's on the same 12V 5A transformer which I assume has removed the different ground potentials and thus removed the ground loop problem. If anyone could confirm my thinking is correct it'd be nice to know! Thanks.

CCTV Cameras Interference when cameras powered by same PSU

Hi, I have installed a simple 4 camera CCTV kit, (4 x 12V IR cameras + a DVR), and am having a problem with interference (lines running through the screens and even a faint image of another camera over the top of another cams image. This only happens when the cameras are powered by the same...

    2.5mm flex rating?

I assume because it is a boat plugging into a hook up it has a 16A plug on the end of the 2.5mm (blue artic?) cable, in which case the 16A hookup outlet will be protected at 16A so its fine. Is it 16A plug like this? (Note 16A not 32A)

Wiring in a TV off the lighting circuit?

We actually have a few of these wired to 5A trailing sockets and IEC's to connect lighting fixtures with those plugs on (mostly par 16's) to 15A dimmer sockets. (Theatre Lighting) A bit OTT but you never know who's rigging!

Wiring in a TV off the lighting circuit?

Didn't know fused 5A's were available, lean something new everyday!

Wiring in a TV off the lighting circuit?

I'm sure others will add to this but here's my 2p worth. No technical reason why it can't be done (as long as the correct cable and JB is used), you have a number of options such as installing a 5A socket and putting a 5A plug on your TV (although this would remove the extra fuse for the TV so...

Wiring a ceiling light to a plug for socket use! Help!

You can't really use a pendent over a tank, there's no IP rating and the condensation would be a problem...

Best way of overriding a fuse?

I wouldn't if I were you... the IP rating of the Ceeform has been compromised. ;) Better put a JB in between :P

Best way of overriding a fuse?

Don't forget the loose cpc connection :P It also passed it's PAT test a couple of months ago!

Best way of overriding a fuse?

Being in the Theatre/Lighting business I've come across many peoples rather inventive ways of bypassing fuses in plugs & dimmers ect, mostly involving foil, nails, pins.... This is a new one on me, I almost admire the effort they went to to make it sort of neat. Rubber cable as well, oh dear...
