The choice is never ending eh :) But as always it comes down to money. For my size house and just 9 rads, is the combi my best option. Would I really notice any improvement going for a system boiler?

Cheers Dan, I think your right. Its good to understand these things tho. Sounds like his system is the best set up, having back up if nec. I guess would be more expensive seeing as need a cylinder, pump, motorized valve and immersion heater?

So a conventional boiler has the expansion tank in the loft. A system boiler doesn't need one? Which do you have?

So you have a standard boiler set up. That would also need a water tank in the loft to service the heating yeah?

Lol. But doesn't it mean the opposite, the rads wont get up to the required heat because the boiler is throttling back?

So am I understanding this correctly? Having a higher output boiler is more down to the hot water. Even tho its output will be scaled down it needs to be higher for the water?

What is range rating? is it limiting the output?

Your prob right but Ive lost faith with it now. I just cant be sure what else these cowboys might have done wrong. I had checked them out. Were Corgi registered. Surprise surprise they are not trading now.

Is the cycling just a cost issue or does it damage the boiler too?

Its the Ecomax 828/2e. Have had nothing but problems. PRV has been changed twice. Gauge always shows at zero. The small heat exchanger has just failed, water spraying everywhere. Have been told the fan has gone due to the spraying. Have now discovered the guys who installed it have not...

Cheers Dan, you have given me plenty to think about. I read on line that if the combi boiler is too powerful, like the CDI 34, that the boiler will keep on cycling and can be a problem. Is that the case?

Think ive met them lol. So what do you advise, knowing my house size?
