    Is this new wiring safe?

Just picked up some chocboxes to remedy the terminal blocks being exposed so can sort that at least. Still not sure about the earth situation. Could it be it's not an issue since the light surrounds aren't actually part of the electrics?

    Is this new wiring safe?

Had a look at the spotlights this morning and they don't appear to have any double insulated symbol. Here's some pictures. Are these ok?

    Is this new wiring safe?

I'm pretty certain it's 10mm2 cable now from measuring the cables and referring to the table posted earlier. The cat 5 cable is being used to run a strip of LED lights, the type that you get a 20m+ roll of, that you can cut off lengths of the stuff. I'd say it's around 0.5m of the stuff in use...

Got you. Looked at that table again properly and it makes sense. I'll have a look at the cable again.

    Is this new wiring safe?

So 10mm refers to the overall width of the 'flat' outer insulation? If so then I think we're good on that front.

    Is this new wiring safe?

Thanks. I will verify they have the double insulated symbol. I've just been in touch with them and they've told me the bulk of the wiring is original wiring from the original house builder. They've just taken 4 cables from it for the spot lights. They've also said that the cat 5 cable is...

    Is this new wiring safe?

I had a look at the spotlights and they definitely don't require and earth so must be double insulated. They have two electrical connections, live and neutral.

    Is this new wiring safe?

Thanks for the replies folks. Just to summarise, before I go back to them, my concerns are: Wiring is a complete mess / untidy Connections are not enclosed Looks like 6mm twin and earth, should be at least 10mm for this shower and length of cable run Shower should be on a 45A MCB, preferably...

    Is this new wiring safe?

I have no idea in terms of testing. They will be bringing me with a certificate I'm told. This is all brand new...

    Is this new wiring safe?

Thanks Omega, I've literally just finished looking at the pull cord. It's rated 45A as it should be. Quite hard to see inside without undoing the wiring but looks like the earths for each cable are connected together using a connector (not on the switch) and there's something else going on with...

    Is this new wiring safe?

They didn't leave the manual for the shower with me I've just realised... Found it online though. Do you think the cable used for the shower is rated highly enough? I can't see any print on it anywhere but the live/neutral are 5mm in diameter including insulation. Not sure what rating that...

    Is this new wiring safe?

I hadn't even noticed the cat5 cable being used... It's not mains though, it's the 12v to the LEDs. Will that be ok? I know it's completely wrong to do but I've no idea what cat5 is capable of carrying. Here's a photo of the shower wiring going into the pull cord isolation switch. The shower is...

    Is this new wiring safe?

Hi all. I have recently had my bathroom renovated by a company and as part of this work there was the installation of a new electric shower, 4 spot lights, feature LED lighting and a backlit mirror. I've been up in the loft to have a look at the work that's been done and I'm not happy with it...
