    what paint should I use?

No I've never had a problem. The finish is far harder than ordinary emulsion (try it with your nail) and is easily wiped. It's just like the expensive diamond matt that you can get. Just give it a go on a small scale and see. You can get PVA from B&Q for less than £9 for five litres so it's...

    Best Mould resistant paint

It doesn't really stop mould forming on the surface. It helps stop it growing into the paint but not on the surface.

    New plastered ceiling

No you do it right. You get different textures with roller and brush, so by rollering last you will get the greater area done with a roller to give you the uniform finish you are looking for.

They can't sell you something unless they tell you who they are and how they can be contacted.

Poor plastering and uneven finish. Please help!

You've already over paid. Take him to the Small Claims Court and you'll get all your money back. It's a bigger job now than when he first started. It needs the lumps scraping off, PVA, leave overnight, then PVA next day and two coats of Multi, then polish.

    what paint should I use?

No I've been using it for around 25 years, and out of all tips I could give - this is number one. It turns cheap contract matt into high quality Diamond/endurance matt. Try it - you won't be disappointed.

Carpetright prices and gap between skirting and flootrboards.

Just glue some timber strips under the skirting the same thickness as the skirting. Only take a couple of hours. £1100 is a silly price. Carpetright are ok for just fitting carpet - so lay your own grippers and underlay. It's not difficult.

    what paint should I use?

So you haven't tried it then. It becomes identical to the endurance matt that cost 5 times the price. If you've tried it you'd know that - but you haven't.

Poor plastering and uneven finish. Please help!

The plasterers that use checkatrade have to pay for the leads that they get. A good tradesman is in high demand. I've not advertised in over 25 years. I know a few travellers that use those sort of services. It's the old 'Bodge-it-and-scarpa' gang. If they start getting nasty you'll know for sure.

Poor plastering and uneven finish. Please help!

As soon as you said 'checkatrade' all our eyes rolled round and round. That's just had one coat and no polish. I'm not the world's fastest plasterer but I get perfect results. Two day job for me and around £450/480.

    what paint should I use?

I've been adding PVA to emulsion for decades. You end up with a paint that is just like the expensive diamond matts. Try this. Add 10% PVA to your paint. Then water it down by 20% and paint it on a test wall a couple of coats. PVA is poly VINYL acetate. Try it.
