Kitchenette with drawers. This is the main reason I wanted the saw. I think it has turned out well so far.. needs the drawer fascias fitting, but I have not decided what material to use yet. Not sure plywood will look good enough. Thre's a slide out chopping board on the left. Drawers are...

OK then... Quick minimal crosscut sled. Really just a fence to hold a workpiece at 90 degrees to the blade. Mitre spline jig. This holds a mitre joint (such as the corner of a drawer) upright on its edge so that you can cut a slot for a spline (strengthening piece of wood glued into the slot...

Bare alumium corrodes, trust me. Or, it goes rough and starts building up white powdery deposits if not protected from the elem, ents. Seen it many times! Especially in my workshop, ha ha.. No diesel, electric car. I think the journey cost less than fiver's worth of electricity and I'm retired...

DeWalt DWE7485 table saw quality issues

OK.. I can update this thread with a bit of good news. Today I drove to Basingstoke to return the saw and see if a replacement is any better. Short story is, it is! Way better and the fence is at 90 degrees, too (the old fence was out by a bit). A 4 hour round trip in some evil weather but...

Well spotted! Mine doesn't have one. I guess it's because it's a GB variant. He is American so reviewing the US version. here in the UK we get ripped off again as usual!

It's lockable, too (the grey ON cover) just in case there are kids around. You just need a padlock with a long hasp. Going back on Friday.

@aveatry Yes quite right. I realised that when I saw where your push notch is! It's an easy fix though. Meanwhile... I saw a review of this saw where the guy measures the flatness of the table. It's way flatter than mine! 10 thou out, I'd be happy with that. So, I think I will take it back.

DeWalt DWE7485 table saw quality issues

I received a message from DeWalt. Seems their official stance is "it's a jobsite saw, not meant for precise work" and they won't do anything to sort my saw out. That is not what they say on their website description of the saw, which says it is "accurate". Caveat Emptor. Fortunately I have the...

Well indeed. But you haven't read my posts... my point is, if they replace, will I end up with another wonky one? That's my main concern. If I ask for a refund, what other saw should I consider in the £400 price range, being back at square one...?

Here's my push stick / rabbit / whatever it is called. Though having seen yours I think I need to modify the notch so that it is further back.

Cheers, I already have one like that, except it has a small knuckle guard to prevent splinters hitting my hand. I made it a while ago, after bodging up a circular saw based table saw - just mounted it upside down, recessed into a home made work bench. Only used it once and didn't really like the...

DeWalt DWE7485 table saw quality issues

OK.. he's been and the result is he doesn't think it's going to be a big problem having a not-quite-flat table. And I probably won't get better precision with a more expensive or flatter table saw, because as a novice I am the limiting factor, not the saw. Although he was of course more tactful...

I did consider that, and so tried it with the fence itself. And with the straight edge on the (not square) square, as well as a 1m aluminium ruler. I could try with a spirit level (has a machined straight edge) but I'm pretty sure the result will be the same - wonky table top... Got a neighbour...

Yes, that's how you tell if it is flat or not. Try it.

DeWalt DWE7485 table saw quality issues

Good call! However, I'm not going to actually use it until I have decided to keep or return the thing. A return is easier when it is clean. Meanwhile I wrote to DeWalt via their website "Contact Us" page. I have asked what the spec is for the table top's flatness, and questioned why they are...

DeWalt DWE7485 table saw quality issues

Another little update. I tried the fence with a different square and it looks spot on. So, I suspect my ancient carpenter's set square is out by a little bit. I've ordered a milled aluminium speed square and I hope this will tell the truth. Also, while messing about with the fence assembly, I...

DeWalt DWE7485 table saw quality issues

Sure thing. But although I can sort the fence out, the table top is a different matter. Really it needs fly cutting to get a perfect level finish, but then of course the aluminium would be exposed and start to corrode. Yes, I could paint it. But why should I go to that expense and hassle? It is...

DeWalt DWE7485 table saw quality issues

No, I am talking about ensuring the fence is parallel to the blade, which means in practice aligning both to the slots in the bed. The issue with the fence is it isn't at 90 degrees to the table surface. This is not adjustable. The issue I have with the table is the surface isn't flat. If I...

DeWalt DWE7485 table saw quality issues

It's easy to set the fence so it is paralll to the blade or tool slots. This I have done. However, you cannot adjust it for perpendicularity with the table top. If you put a set square there you can see if it's at 90 degrees and mine isn't. The solution is to attach another fence to it with...
