Prefer to have a pro do it ... would that be £45 -ish with or without parts? (not that the parts are expensive)....

    Replacing odd sized rads

 ChrisR - I have used both BES and Screwfix extenders. Now I will be watching carefully in case they start leaking. At the moment I have a problem with a Screwfix extender which persists in dripping at the rad end. I have now refitted it three times with no success. I use 3 turns of PTFE...

Dustyy If you have had two go already I would be ready for the others to leak too. My house is now 24 years old and in the last 9 months I have replaced every rad.. 13 because of leaks and one just in case.... I forgot to add that the BES extenders are adjustable up to 40mm which makes life...

    Replacing odd sized rads

I have just completed replacing 14 rads of various odd imp sizes. Following suggestions from this forum I used extensions, available from BES and Plumbcentre and my local plumbing shop. They look like this when fitted. Not as neat as the original but not bad and saved having to dig up a screeded...

replacing imperial rads with metric sizes

Hopefully this is the end of the radiator saga as I have now replaced the last original rad, a total of 12 which had failed with rust pinholes in the last 9 months. In some cases I have used extenders where it hasnt been possible to get a same size rad. Final question for the professionals out...

replacing imperial rads with metric sizes

Need to replace an old leaking rad. Have done others and where possible have fitted radiator extension pieces to allow for the different sizes. Currently working on a 1200mm rad to fit a 1300mm gap between valves. 2 x 40mm extenders will still not 'stretch' far enough. I dont particularly want...

    Candy counterweight

Final part of the saga. Muscle Mister didnt make an ounce of difference. I bit the bullet and replaced the entire drain run with new pipework. Problem all solved. Old pipes were 80% blocked with gunge and debris, photo available on request but not for the faint hearted!

    Leak in a radiator

I had a problem with leaking rads and so far this year I have replaced 8 of them, and will be doing the remaining 4 this week when the new rads are delivered. The leaks have all been pin holes rusted through, despite inhibitor being installed. I put it down to the age of the system (25 years)...

    Candy counterweight

Breezer - I must admit I was tempted but then sanity and my minders returned and put a stop to it. I have now replaced the Candy with a bright shiny new Hotpoint Aquarius and hit a new problem. On the empty part of the cycle, water was blowing back out of the external drain pipe. The new...

 After developing a banging during the spin cycle I checked the machine out but didnt find anything obviously amiss. However following a wash cycle this morning, with horrendous banging noises I stopped the machine. Inspection revealed the concrete counterweight on the floor under the...
