    Replacing rad, seeking inspiration!

Downstairs loo has a small rad behind the door - space is very limited. Rad is 480mm long and 440 mm deep with no finning. Cant be any deeper because the door opens onto it. Seems all new rads have fins? Have checked the www extensively but cannot find a finless rad this size. The original has a...

    Leaking radiators . . . .

I suppose we all think our heating systems are immortal! If you reckon 20 years is a good run then I will just grin and bear it. My only concern was that I had overlooked something which could be causing the rads to fail... never considered they might have a sell by date. Thanks for taking the...

    Leaking radiators . . . .

:( The house and system is about 23 years old. 4 years ago it was drained down to replace a leaking rad. When refilled, Betz Dearborn Sentinel X100 was added by the plumber. Within the last year, I have experienced a further 5 radiators developing pin holes, 3 in the last 2 months. Is...

    Pipe Freezing Kits

Breezer - many thanks for the info and your good wishes. Loved the 'Bung' picture - but perhaps 'bunging' a plumber some money is the best answer. Glad in a way I retired early because the amount of work I have to do around this place would kill a 65 year old! So far in just one month I have...

    dado rail

I am planning fitting dado to the main hall and top landing. The stairs have a hand rail on the wall side and are open on the other. Should the dado be fitted up the stairs, removing the handrail or just leave the handrail? Or is it just up to what I want? Presumably the modern resin type is...

    KitchenAid Waste disposer KWS-200

:( This unit is 20 years old and doesnt owe anyone anything. Except its stopped working and just wondered if any of the experts out there know anything about this unit? It buzzes when the plug is inserted but doesnt grind. The grinder is free, I've checked and can turn it manually. TIA

    Toilets not flushing well

I am on a roll now! I have a similar problem with poor flushing so fitting a new syphon seems to be the answer. The WC is a close coupled unit so how the heck do I remove the old syphon? TIA

Releasing nut between radiator and valve..

Hints and tips please .... the nut fixing the valve to the radiator is locked up really tight. Trying to loosen it results in the inlet copper pipe flexing .. what is the best way to free this up please?
