Sounds like a job to avoid, i started so called 5 minute jobs before and been there for hours... If this job was in Haynes manual, how may spanners of diffulty would it be (1 spanner for easy, 5 spanners for don't even bother)... i tend not to attempt anything above a 3 spanner job! Cheers all.

My circ pump is knackered (with power on to the pump, nothing happens) I could pop to my local DIY store and pick up a new one for £30, am i allowed to fit it myself? If so, is it just a case of closing the suction and discharge gate valves, unwiring, remove old one and fit new one? How do...

Further to this, came home today, boiler is cycling on and off and the house was freezing cold. No heat from rads. Circ pump was making no noise at all, even when i changed the speed. Would the boiler cycle on and off if the circ pump was knackered?

Is this something i can check and possibly rectify or not?

Some more info, when the system starts up from cold, it runs as expected. When the house starts to get warm (but not cutting out on the room stat) the boiler then starts to cycle on and off as described. Any ideas?

All the TRV's are either half way or up to max. The room stat isn't getting cold enough to operate the 'call for heat' contact inside it. With the boiler stat being up to max, is it a case of the boiler getting the CH loop water up to temp and then cutting off? (If i turn the circ pump...

I'll sort this as soon as i can.... is their likely to the a 'culprit' location, or is it a case of being brutal with the floor baords? The second bathroom is affected as well, so the source has to be close to the cylinder before it splits...

Checked this, the ball valve is fine and operates correctly, and the F&E tank is about half full. I've switched the circ pump onto number 2, istead of 3. What impact will this have on the system? I assuem the rads will take slightly longer to heat up, but will it affect the boiler?
