TalkTalk TV & HDR Connection (One for Sam Ganges I think

Probably. Try it and see, it's not going to kill your cat.

Can't use TV as a monitor for Windows 7 PC

Would you please be a little more specific about the hardware you're dealing with? It's hard to have any idea what's wrong when all we know is you have some TV and some PC. That's odd. I have USB video input and output devices. But it won't carry video? How strange..

Dewalt DW997 cordless drill - problem if unused for years?

NiCd cells don't care. If the battery pack was already abused, letting it totally discharge could damage a cell, but if it was in good working order, no harm will be done by letting it sit at any charge state.

Dewalt DW997 cordless drill - problem if unused for years?

NiCd batteries do not, in general, give a crap about sitting around for a while. I suspect they will be perfectly fine. The person who replied from Dewalt will have absolutely no knowledge of battery chemistry.

    Foam and cabling

Expanding foam is potent stuff, but it can't compress copper. The foam is an insulator. It makes the cable run hotter.

    Ventilation Around ring main circuit

It would appear to be the right way up. There's the bottom of a window at the top, windowboard, and a piece of plasterboard on the front.

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

Many. And CW1308 is not in any way designed to handle high speed data.

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

And while I don't doubt you've experienced that, I remain unconvinced a couple meters of mismatched cable can have that substantial a difference after a thousand or more of irregularly jointed cable. It would be interesting to get an engineer to perform a proper line test with and without...

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

Do you happen to have meaningful measurements to back up this oft-repeated theory?

No different to selecting shutdown from the menu. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a buffoon to be ignored.

    Opinions on new laptop please

That looks fairly okay. Toshiba aren't too bad, and basic laptops are a lot better than they used to be. Pop into a store and play with a few, a dodgy touchpad or badly spaced keyboard will shortly drive you nuts. People have a tendency to forget they exist and cause them to overheat...

    Hard drive

I didn't think it was, I was just saying in my own way that I disrecommend Seagate. I also disrecommend second hand drives. They come in special boxes for a reason. Better off spending that money down your nearest casino. Indeed, you need both a screwdriver and a clue. Thankfully, both...

All browsers signed into Sync continually update. If I bookmark something on this machine, it pops up on three others in a minute or two.

    What size drill ?

If you blast air down the hole, hold a vacuum at the side as you do so. It'll grab most of the dust straight out of the air if it's decently strong.

    Hard drive

HDDs start at around £40, so just buy one (match the size of your existing one), plug it in (it's not too hard, just ask for instructions if you need them), and install Windows (I hope you have media? If not, ask, we can assist). Actually, you may have a warranty on the drive, depending on...

    Firefox Sync

You can do that, or you can just sign into Firefox Sync. It's already up on their servers waiting for you to sign in and retrieve it from a new client.

    Comet 67P

You mean the one on the rover which weighs nine times as much as Philae? The one which uses fuel which is only recently being manufactured again, after 25 years of no production?

    Firefox Sync

Yep, just sign in and it'll all pop in. It can take a few minutes.

    Laptop "upgrade"

[/url] Oh, hell, no. Hybrids are not nearly as good as you might think, and Seagate hybrids have a history. Of being fatally bad. More RAM is more useful than a hybrid.
