    mystery number

The number has been reported before matey... Its been reported before... http://whocallsme.com I am dubious about returning calls from unknown numbers if i am not expecting a call, a quick google normally finds out its origin. 8)

    FACOM tools

They should see you alright. They have a lifetime guarantee. Im always dubious of putting lots of torque on ratchet mechanisms, if you can use a proper ring spanner if you come across something very very tight... Once youve spent out on decent tools, its worth taking a few mins to look...

    Steel Tubing

Yes you can, although some might be polyester coating... In a limited range of colours such as black, yellow, green.... Id imagine hot pink might be harder to find on the shelf. Quite right though, probably easier to buy a peice of tube and then have it powder coated.

    Steel Tubing

What colour powder coat...? Some of the key clamp/tube clamp suppliers will do powder coated tubes and fittings, it will be 48mm in that sort of thing. Might be something to follow up

    Spirit level calibration

Cant remember the last time i saw someone with a level that could be calibrated  As john says, easy way to test it.... draw line, turn round (not over) and it should match. Nearly all are fixed nowadays, some of the good quality ones even offer guarantees. Invest in a good one...

    welding mask

Parweld do a sensible helmet, get them for about £50 on ebay... a seller called 'weldequip' does them. Hes a top bloke, sold quite a few to happy customers on a welding forum im on. Easy to get replacment lenses etc for those aswell. As said though, steer clear of the cheap chinese ones...

    Cutting pipes with a wraparound?

You would make them yourself normally. thin sheet, flexi plastic, card... whatever. Do a flat pattern development of the angle, the more points the better. Then shape it around the pipe you need to cut. Mark it with some french chalk, marker, scriber.... and cut away.

    What size 110v transformer required?

3.3kva the biggest sensibly sized ones, will be fine. Your not going to be using it continuously. They happily power a 9" grinder and a drill at the same time. (grinder alone is about 2000w)

fitting usbs in a hipped roof

We supply steelwork for lofts conversions quite often. Its not uncommon to have the ends chamfered to fit under the angle of the roof. Not normally cut right to a point, but half way down the height, then the angle, thats normally sufficient. Occasionally they ask for web stifeners to be welded...

    Windscreen Repair Kit...

If you go for an independant windscreen company they seem a lot cheaper. I had a new one put in my van not that long ago, £105 inc vat, they came out and fitted it for me where i was working. They were about £250 cheaper than one of the biggest companies. Yet they get their glass from the...

HELP HELP !!! MY TOILET CISTERN HAS A CRACK, HOW DO I SEAL??

Just get a new one. It will be cheaper in the long term than messing about trying various sealers. If its from Wickes, get a like for like, it wouldn't take long to do it yourself. Its not hard, and minimal tools are needed.

    RSJ to short?

As much as 225mm, sounds alright to me. Unless your SE has specd a minimum i wouldnt be concerned. Quite often have 100mm minimum bearing.

fixing a sheet of tin to mdf

Very carefull- minimal heat input, doing minimal weld then a bit elsewhere. Would keep it to a minimum. Would take a month of sundays to get round it

    A 'good' workbench?

Theres quite a few different ones about, but imo, the B&D workmate is probably the best. The only problem i find, is they are slightly to low for some tasks, even with the legs folded out. But they are all around the same height. I think Screwfix was banging mid rang ones for about £30 the...

fixing a sheet of tin to mdf

A circle is certainly harder to do than a square or rectangle. It would be quite hard to get it to look nice if it was hammered over, youd end up with ridges and indents and probably not all that even. You could have a disc cut and a band tig welded to it like jason suggested, but youd have...
