The phase out of ice engines..

Well it won't work on me. Electric cars are completely unattractive for several reasons, primarily their cost, relatively short lives, lack of range, expensive to run unless you have your own charger, and... they do tend to explode and burst into flames!

    Door sticking.

Fortunately, in my case, the door is not rubbing on the carpet beneath, so just a bit of sanding on the side which rubs against the frame.

    Door sticking.

Thank you both for your helpful suggestions. The door hasn't dropped on its joints and it isn't rubbing on the carpet beneath. I have checked the hinges and the screws are all still tight and no hinges moving. There are no gaps or apparent movements anywhere on the frame. I shall do a bit of...

    Door sticking.

Recently, our inside door to the porch has been sticking. I assume it is due to the unusually hot weather, and after many years in this house, it has never happened before. I can't be sure whether it is the frame or the door itself expanding. I can see no cracking anywhere. I can, of course...

Dewalt (DWHT77100-XJ) laser measure - WAY off?

Having read all this, I think I'll give laser measurers a miss! I stick to tape measure and do it in bits.

Is there a way to remove screw blanks from light switch?

My preference is Torx screws without a doubt, especially if you want to keep a reliable connection for your screwdriver.

    Pavement parking.

Well the footpaths along our road, and many others in this area, have been perfectly fine for over a hundred years and are unlikely to be relaid in order to make them narrower! The system works well, assuming of course that most motorists bear in mind to leave a sufficiently wide area of the...

    Pavement parking.

I'm afraid that if that were the case in the case of some narrow roads parking would be impossible. In my opinion, parking with two wheels on the pavement is a practical solution, providing that the space remaining on the pavement is sufficiently wide to provide enough space for wheelchairs...

    Drive gates in the countryside

I think one wide gate for cars and a narrow gate for pedestrians would be most convenient, though presumably you'd have to add a post between the two.

    Swift Bricks

Perhaps so. On the other hand, I have had both magpies and blackbirds visiting for a year or two, so it could be that the magpies are happily feeding on what I offer them and find that easier than raiding the nests of blackbirds. I hope so, anyway.

    Swift Bricks

I'd be very happy to do that but, as AJS says, we don't have swifts around here. I do, however, put bird food into a hanging basket every day: wood pigeons, robins, magpies, blackbirds, etc.

    2010 version of Word

I'm quite happy for those who want to pay every year for MS Office. I'll stick with LibreOffice, thank you.

    2010 version of Word

LibreOffice I have MS Office 2007 installed, but for some reason which I don't understand it suddenly stopped working properly, and now takes around five minutes to open a document! Obviously, I couldn't really continue using the programme and I wasn't prepared to purchase a new, up to date...

Scratches on top surface of dashboard

Thanks Old Salt. I shall try your second option. Slawit, thank you. I shall try that method too, whichever I can get hold of first.

Scratches on top surface of dashboard

I hope this helps. Either picture shows the damage, but if you cross your eyes, the two together will form a 3D image, which might help. I'd be very grateful for any advice, Old Salt. As for Slawit's suggestion above, perhaps it might do the job.

Scratches on top surface of dashboard

The other day, I purchased a plank from B&Q which I could get into the car only by placing it longwise in the cabin with the front edge on top of the dashboard. Stupidly, I didn't put anything underneath the wood, and consequently there are some small scratches on the plastic surface. The...
