    Ooops!

Yes, you're absolutely correct. If I ever need to (attempt to) speak German, I shall probably use the incorrect version of 'the', but the important thing is that at least I should be understood. Perhaps in time this aspect of the German language will also become simplified.

    Ooops!

Interestingly, I like German and enjoyed it at school. One drawback, however, is remembering the appropriate definite article: der, die, or das. I expect (and hope) that one day all three will eventually be combined into a single one to make things more simple. After all, with all this...

    Defeating the squirrels

Yes, we get pigeons and several other birds happy to land on the ground and wait for bits of food to fall. Of course, the small birds are quite messy eaters! Personally, it doesn't bother me if they poo all over the place, as it's only on soft earth. If it does bother you, the same...

    Defeating the squirrels

Oh, yes. There is no doubt that the cone effectively prevented them from climbing up the pole from the ground. Good luck, and I'm sure they won't be able to eat the bird food even if they can get to the feeders, as the things the bird perch on will sink down under the weight of a squirrel (or...

    Defeating the squirrels

Mine came with a cone, but it didn't help too much because the squirrels could jump across from a nearby tree and land on the cone. They then tried to climb up the pole and tried to reach across to the hanging feeders but couldn't quite reach. After a few days of attempts, they just gave up...

Ah, I can see your problem. We've had a couple of these hanging up for a few years now...

Bay window roofing lead detached from wall. Help tips on how to make better job

I know nothing, but as no-one else has said anything yet, I wonder whether the lead is fine but the mortar, or whatever the white stuff is, looks like it's breaking up. I think it might be quite easy to remove that and replace it... properly. Anyway, someone who knows what they're talking about...

    GB News

As one of the many Brexit-loving EV-haters, I really couldn't care less! In eleven years I shall (possibly) be 83 years old and am unlikely to be driving at that age. I can, though, imagine there being far fewer cars on the road when ICEs are outlawed, especially as the UK is unlikely to be able...

How long do bulbs last? Tungsten, CFL, LED etc.

Why on earth would anyone want to outlaw the option of a pearl finish to light bulbs? I don't suppose that was just another silly idea by Sir Free-gear, was it?

    GB News

As a gullible GB News viewer, I agree and would never waste my money on an EV! Similarly, I'm glad we left the EU looking at the things they are trying to do now!

    EV are they worth it?

Excellent comment. I completely agree (despite being off-topic!). I can't decide whether the cause is 14 years of Liberal-Conservative 'government', the infamous Tony Bliar, or perhaps Two-tier Free-gear Starmer. Probably all three.

Is it illegal to use rat snap traps in shed?

I'd be pretty annoyed if one of our cats walked on one. Which makes me think, if it was in a neighbour's garden would I be able to take them to court for injuring my cat?

Dealing with cat poo in the lawn

I agree. We have two cats (and have had two more before them). None have ever pooed on the lawn. One of them usually uses a specific 'toilet' where, due to regular digging (and subsequent filling in) is now empty of plants. The other goes somewhere unknown to us, but hopefully not in a...

    Bathroom sink gurgling

Try what I did recently when our washbasin was gurgling. Fill the sink as much as you can, then release the plug. Whatever was causing our problem was washed away and the sink no longer gurgles.
