Minimum service schedule is as per the manual that came with the boiler. Just because he is registered ( which he or she has to be ) means nothing. This boiler was also serviced by a registered engineer

While the pcb is complex build components, it does fail but that is an expensive exercise just to suspect and replace, then find boiler still failing. Same with gas valve which is not an end user fix since it needs set When was the boiler serviced and what was the depth of service procedure

That leaves two options to be looked at. An airlock or gubbed pump

If the valve actuator is gubbed then boiler would not activate when that zone is switched on

Post a picture of the boiler. There are many many ideal boilers
