    Prozor D.A.C Output

No, don't use the Phono input. Sure, it has a lot of gain compared to the other inputs, but it also has an EQ curve called RIAA which is designed to restore the huge bass cut required to get music on and off vinyl. There's 40dB of bass boost and 40dB of treble cut. Those are huge amounts...

    Whatdo do about recordings?

^This. I stream most of what I watch, but being forced to sit through adverts with Prime and ITVX is like going back in time 30 years.

    Whatdo do about recordings?

The writing is on the wall for broadcast TV via terrestrial (an aerial), and via satellite. It has been decided that internet-delivered TV is the way forward. Exact dates for the switch-off of terrestrial and satellite have not yet been set. Terrestrial is certainly not 2030 as one poster has...

    TV cable help

Not really, no. You don't Sellotape two bits of Wi-Fi together. You don't run Wi-Fi under the carpet at a door threshold. You don't staple Wi-Fi to the skirting board, crushing it in the process. You don't twist the braid and core of Wi-Fi together and stuff it into a plug. You don't fold up...

    TV cable help

Everyone's mileage varies. Wi-Fi quality is hugely variable. The structure of the building. The position of the router. The quality of the router. Wireless congestion. Range. Number of users. The list goes on and one. A bit of cable. It mostly works, and often superbly despite some homeowners'...

    TV cable help

Your cables in image ending 702 are most likely professionally installed cables for a satellite dish feed. The plug in image ending 809 is a standard TV coax plug, but that doesn't mean to say it's attached to a roof/loft aerial. With a back-to-back adapter, this could have connected to a...

    Missing channels on Freeview Box

The age of the aerial installation is new info, but useful. Thanks. I think if the aerial had moved then more than just one mux would be affected. All the main WH muxes are running at 100kW. If the aerial had have moved, I think your reception would be affected across the board rather just on...

    Putting HDMI in wall

Pulling any cable past just one 90 degree bend can be a headache.

    Missing channels on Freeview Box

Except 1.) that means swapping out what could be a perfectly good TV for a Freely model since there isn't yet a Freely box 2.) not all the terrestrial channels are available via streaming yet 3.) the writing is on the wall that streaming will include mandatory adverts unless you pay a premium...

    Missing channels on Freeview Box

That could be as simple as the 'dodgy connection' that works some times and not others. I had a call out a few months ago like that. Reception would come and go. After checking all the stuff at ground level I got on the roof. When I came to the aerial cable connection, the whole thing was loose...

    Missing channels on Freeview Box

It's surprising the numbers of properties still using (or appearing to use) what looks like '80s era contract aerials. The boost in power post-DSO and the all-or-nothing nature of digital TV reception probably means if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Loads of properties still have the old...

    Missing channels on Freeview Box

The Winter Hill muxes go down Ch. 21. If you have a group C/D aerial - something tuned for optimal reception from Ch.48 to Ch.68 - its reception will go lower, but by about Ch. 26 you're flogging a dead horse. For a home in a high field strength area, a bit of poorly shielded coax might be...

    Terrestrial TV Signal Mystery

An attenuator just reduces the signal strength. It doesn't increase it. What it does though, being a passive device rather than amplified, is that it leaves the signal quality unchanged. It reduces the power without reducing the quality. It's a good diagnostic tool. Next time you lose signal...

    Terrestrial TV Signal Mystery

Try a variable attenuator at the socket of your main TV. Reduce the TV's signal strength to about 70%. See how you go.

    will full fibre improve coverage

There's something in what @foxhole says about the age of your wireless router. Quite a while ago, BT were making a big play about their Wi-Fi coverage being the fastest. This was with their new BT Hub router at the time, and it's still relevant today. It was fast. They were running 5 GHz...

Sky HD Box - No Signal?

The same signals that Sky uses as part of its channel package are also used for Freesat. When a Sky subscription is cancelled, Sky can (and does) switch off access to the paid-for subscription channels, but the other ones stay active. For this reason, I think the issue is more likely to be some...

Replacing analogue room stat & receiver/relay

Hello, and thanks for the info so far. Answers to questions asked so far: Batteries - Duracell and also a new set of Energiser (my preferred choice as they don't leak, unlike Duracells Override on HC60NG receiver - Yep. Green light. Heating set to +1 hr. Pump and boiler fire. Rads get hot...

Replacing analogue room stat & receiver/relay

Hello gurus of the CH world. We have a Honeywell Y6630D analogue room stat and receiver/relay. I'm not up on the terminology of boilers, but it feeds a hot water cylinder if that gives you any clues. HW works but CH doesn't. I suspect the room stat has died. I have changed batteries in the...

Samsung UE50JU6400K Blinking Standby light (Won't turn on)

If one LED has gone then more will follow. Also, you may find a difference in brightness level just replacing one strip, or possibly a slight colour difference. These are both symptoms of the LEDs ageing. Better to replace the whole lot once you know for sure that the LEDs are the issue.
