Is this smoke alarm within the regs?

Yes it will be working below standards but considering the house should have had an inspection before handing it on you would have expected them to have noticed it and moved it's location. I'm sure they will relocate it but this is the council. If I was in this position I purchase a battery...

Is this smoke alarm within the regs?

There is no legal requirement for a landlord to fit smoke alarms if the house is older than 1992. He is only required to have an electrical safety test if a mains s/alarm is fitted.

I don't believe it happened the way you say.

    Evicting tenants

I think you are getting mixed up. A 6 month short hold tenancy becomes a statutory periodic after the 6 months is up and the tenancy isn't renewed, your agreement then depends on how you pay the rent, weekly or monthly. If you pay weekly then your agreement is automatically renewed weekly and so...

    Evicting tenants

I don't believe you one bit. A section 21 notice isn't an eviction notice. You can't change the date of a section 21 and you need both a possession order and a bailiff order to legally evict a tenant. If you rent your property it legally belong to the tenant while they have a tenancy agreement.

    Evicting tenants

If the tenant is on benefits or not won't change matters. It may delay a possession order a few weeks. If on benefits you can apply to the local council to have the rent paid direct to you and it will be granted for not paying rent, easy process. The police will be obliged to arrest you.

    Evicting tenants

You need to apply for a possession order. https://www.gov.uk/private-renting-evictions/rules-your-landlord-must-follow I would ignore the above comment, bully boy tactics don't work.

YALEs new EASYFIT alarms oh dear

You can understand why people think you are confused when you send out mixed opinions. So please tell us why are you so against vulnerability disclosure? I will ask the question again, what diatribe are you referring too?

    In response to Bernard Green

It wasn't a response to me, it was an article I read. Honeywell never respond, that's my experience anyway. You are welcome. Vulnerability disclosure is the only way companies like Honeywell are held accountable and forced to change for the better.

    In response to Bernard Green

According to Tony Makosinkski from Honeywell security jamming of wireless security systems is an issue that needs addressing. He recommends wireless to compliment wired systems. Yes, educating people to the vulnerabilities of security systems. In the case of security locks the industry are...
