As regular contributors, are we a form of let me google that for you?

I have never heard of "let my Google that for you". They seem to be rather coy about about their privacy policy.

    Identifying PZ and PH screw

Agreed, but as a decorator, I am often temporarily removing those fittings prior to repainting.

    How do you make tea?

Q: Why do communists only drink coffee? A: All proper tea (read: property) is theft.

    Identifying PZ and PH screw

Folk law says that Phillips screws were designed so that the head would cam out and reduce the risk of over screwing and ripping the threads. I have no idea if that is true though. In the last few years, when working with cheap Phillips type screws provided with window locks from the East, I...

Fukui v Valspar B&Q mixer operative advice

I have only used Valspar once. It was supplied by the customer. From memory it was a mixed Premium colour (I may be wrong about it being the Premium though). It covered fine but I hated the texture. I used my usual Purdy Colossus rollers but when you ran your hand over the walls it almost felt...

    Replace filling loop

What about the blue lever valve on the right? That kinda looks like you might have a slight leak from inside the boiler. BTW, I am not a plumber.

Recomendation for a palm router and planer

I have recently noticed that Rutlands are doing an Axminster and releasing their own range of power tools. By and large they seem to have decent reviews and very competitive price points. Possibly worth a butchers. https://www.rutlands.com/collections/routers-1-4 Given that your Midi has a...

Hive installation broke my PCB on boiler

Sorry, my bad, you didn't mention gas safe.

Recomendation for a palm router and planer

I only work in domestic properties. When using my router or planer, both are connected to my dust extractor (read: vacuum cleaner with auto start). Whilst working, I need to control the hose, keeping an eye on the power lead is no biggy. I see no advantage to using battery versions of either...

core drilling 162mm for kitchen extractor vent

As an aside... My core drill arbor has a straight centre bit. Diamond core bits are generally intended to be used with hammer action turned off. Why are so many arbors sold with a SDS drill bit in the center?

core drilling 162mm for kitchen extractor vent

I had a cheapo Titan, about 1500w. I used it to drill up to 150mm. Both times I was going through solid 9 inch walls. I started with a SDS drill bit the same size as the pin in the core but long enough to go all the the way through the wall. Although it is not listed as having a safety clutch, I...

    Changing toilet

As above, I would go for one with a handle. I have lost count of the amount of slotted ones that have started squirting out water when turning the slot. If you consider the lever unsightly, you can remove the handle until needed.

Laminated glass might be an option as the outer panel. @crank39 or @ronniecabers might be able to advise you.

Hive installation broke my PCB on boiler

I don't disagree that they guy was not competent but I, perhaps mistakenly, thought that Gas Safe was only required for the gas side (including both the exhaust and condensate pipe). The Hive room stat will either work or not- I, as a lay person, cannot see how it makes the boiler dangerous. I...

    Wiring 6 pendant ceiling light

Sorry, I still do not understand, why you would need a 10 way Wago? As per the image of @flameport , you will have the (3?) loop wires, 2 neutrals and switched live. I am not an electrician, but I cannot think of a situation where you would need a 10 way connector.. A triple for the neutrals and...

    Resealing bath

Do you mean the channel connected to the wall? You need to articulate in order for people to help you- and, no I am not intentionally being condescending.

Hive installation broke my PCB on boiler

I am not a plumber... why does he need to be "Gas Safe" to wire up a room stat? Granted, it sounds like he effed up, but he wasn't touching the gas supply.

Decorators - how to make good

Most of the houses that I work in are victorian 9" solid walls in west London. I, as you are aware, am not a plasterer. Most of those properties have the original lime plaster and have, at some point, been skimmed with gypsum plaster. I appreciate that some people say that only lime products...
