I have been thinking of replacing the pan or possibly using a high level cistern. It is very frustrating as it has never worked properly from new although I think Armitage Shanks is supposed to be a good quality unit.

hi, The cistern is filled to the top of the overflow pipe. I don't think this is the problem but thanks for your reply.
