    Outside socket and light options

Thanks for the reply Yes the Ring Mains has an RCD. I'd rather have the switch for the light cause I want to have control when to turn it on or off. Could add a PIR at a later time but I'm not that bothered. I did look into using conduit but decided against as it's extra cost/material etc. I...

    Outside socket and light options

thanks for the reply. Yea that's exactly what I'm thinking and want to be able to isolate the outside. I guess it's impossible to incorporate some sort of isolator switch for the outside socket if it's wire in the ring mains eh?

    2 way switching not working

Awesome, thanks mate. Will do a bit more investigation and obviously call a proper electrician if it needs more than just re-wiring a switch. Out of curiosity, could it be that the switch 2A is just busted? Or these switches are bulletproof?

    2 way switching not working

Thanks for the reply. Yes from a visual check the white goes up to the L of the ceiling lights. I haven't properly checked with continuity as I didn't have a long enough lead for my Megger. Will source one and see how everything is connected. How can you see that the red wire link has been...

    2 way switching not working

Thank you. That's great and helpful information. Yes spot on it's a 60s flat. I'll do some continuity tests to see where the black wires from switch 2A go. It is all very messy I'm afraid...the colours are all over the place. I'm guessing the 2 black wires on 2A can't possibly be neutrals can they?

I attach the photos I took as part of initial investigation. 2x Lights in corridor, Light 1 and Light 2 2x 2-gang switches in corridor Switch 1(next to Light 1) and Switch...

    Toothbrush charger in bathroom

Thanks mate, I'll do some more investigation (when I'm not hungover from NYE party lol) The FCU does turn the fan on/off so I'm guessing our plumber friend had no blue wire so just used E colour instead for the Load N?

    Toothbrush charger in bathroom

Thanks both. The light on the FCU is gone lol. I opened it and checked with my multimeter and there is voltage between L&N even with the light switch off. Hooray! Out of curiosity where is the switched live then? How does the light trigger the fan? Cause I can only see supply L&N and load L&N...

Hi all and happy New year. We moved into a new place that has no shaver socket in the bathroom. There is an extraction fan above the sink and was thinking to spur off that and install one of these...
