Ok I have now replaced Timer and Thermostat but it's still tempromental any other ideas? Boiler fault? I came on until it got to temp went off and then if you turn up thermostat to max nothing comes on again as it should do. again if you push across the valve arm the boiler will come...

I have just forced my valve open and that means the heating is on! So I would imagine its a dicky valve actuator The ones with the removeable actuator ,make it easier to change again second time around, as they go again later if you plan to stay... now on my 3rd set in since 1994

The timer was replaced a few years back Original system installed in 1994 but since then have had new valves often and a major rebuild on boiler.. plus a couple of rads a few years back.. Hence I change the valve actuator first when I get an issue, as this usually is the issue every 5-8...

Not forced, but pushed across and held in place with a biro cap! (technical stuff, but it worked on apollo 13 I believe)
