Open system sucking in air, closed system still sucking in air! Any help or pointers?

Thanks, Unfortunately that’s gone a bit above my head! The only thing Im taking from it is that maybe I should run my pump at speed 3 which is opposite to what was suggested earlier? I’m a bit confused…

Open system sucking in air, closed system still sucking in air! Any help or pointers?

Yes, the boiler is used twice a day to heat the hot water. Why will that be a factor? I’m not sure what you mean. Not sure if the pump is 6M or 8M, I’d assume the former. Thanks for your replies John!

Open system sucking in air, closed system still sucking in air! Any help or pointers?

I’m just trying options that are at minimal cost first of all….Ive had 3 different plumbers do jobs on the system over the years and shown them the air problem…..I thought the 3rd one who suggested pressurising it all had given me a solution…..nope! I just have pressurised air in the system now...

Open system sucking in air, closed system still sucking in air! Any help or pointers?

Trouble is, as the guy that started this thread, I’m not sure where to go next? Seems there’s no definitive reason for the air in my system. The heatings not being used just now as the weather is warm….Im sure we will see the issues once the heating gets used again.

Open system sucking in air, closed system still sucking in air! Any help or pointers?

No, but the system gets a clean/drain refill with fresh inhibitor every couple of years. In fact the installer of the boiler commented on how clean the water through the radiators was…. Ive found the installer guide for the boiler (greenstar ri 24) and cant see any mention whatsoever of an auto...

Open system sucking in air, closed system still sucking in air! Any help or pointers?

Ok, will have a look. Pumps definitely not cavitating, runs smooth and super quiet. Ive ordered a couple of Aladdin autovents, cant do any harm can they…. Yes fixitflav, there is inhibitor in the system - i add a bit extra via the mag clean every time I have to top up the system following...

Open system sucking in air, closed system still sucking in air! Any help or pointers?

Yeah, the expansion vessel is on the return. Not a lot I can do about that, thats where the plumber fitted it. My overall thought is that the expansion vessel isn't an issue at all, after all I had it fitted to try and address this air ingress problem, so the problem was there before the vessel...

Open system sucking in air, closed system still sucking in air! Any help or pointers?

Hi John, sorry, yes you did ask about plastic - no theres none on the system. Im going to order an aladdin vent, cant do any harm surely! Not sure if the system pressure is going up and down …..all I check is that the pressure stays the same and it does. Our house sits on small walls so that...

Open system sucking in air, closed system still sucking in air! Any help or pointers?

Ok thanks…. I can assure you that there is LOTS of air being forced out when I bleed the system. In daily use, the system doesn’t lose pressure. Obviously it loses all pressure when I bleed the air out (and the associated water). Maybe I should leave it without bleeding for a month or so and see...

Hi all, Ok, heres a system sketch from what I can see. Hope it makes sense, Im no Picasso! The boiler, magnaclean and PV are all in the loft, approx 3M above ground level. The pump is a Grundfoss UPS2. Ive checked the compression fittings, all are good and tight. Pump flow is pointing the...

Open system sucking in air, closed system still sucking in air! Any help or pointers?

Hi, yes boiler is at the top of the system…no idea if there is an AAV or how to tell if open? Its a worcester bosch condensing boiler, dunno if theres an aav inside? Certainly nothing added outside. And you say check rad valves? What to check? They all work as they should and there are no...
