Not overly concerned but is it a good thing for a plastic rising main to be very close (within a mm)to a central heating pipe. Just had my lead replaced with blue plastic.

Still no sign of dampness, seepage, no pools of water. Fired up the system, hot water and rads work. Nowt wrong with header tank overflows. From the top of the cylinder almost as if water dripping down the pipe that leads into the top of the cylinder. Found a mirror, no signs of damp falling...

Thanks for the reply. Green foamed tank, about ten years old, thought vaguely the hot silver box symptom might be related. I switched off the electrics for silver box to cool, then tested the hot water action..OK tho didn't have it on long, just long enough for water to get warm. Not life...

This Honeywell sundial system, central heating control with ST712 programmer seems to be using, according to an Efergy monitor....13Watts.....£15 a year. Is this normal or am I reading the monitor wrong. Have checked it against a known wattage. Not urgent been like this for 10 years. Thanks...

I used battens, Allison, when doing it earlier in the year, tho I was working from the top. Tried for a grant from Energy Savings Trust, no go but things are looking up. Might be worth trying. Don't put a vacuum barrier on the cold side of your insulation.Has to be between floorboards and joists.
