    Consumer Unit Replacement

I already ordered a 20mm die and I bought a hand pipe bender a while ago which is useless for rigid steel conduit ha ha I took it over to me friend who is a big muscled body builder and he couldn't bend the conduit with it either so I was happy with that ;) A pipe vice is an interesting one, I...

    Consumer Unit Replacement

Actually I just realised I didn't deduct the resistance of the lead I used from the CU earth to the socket to test it with, which is the earth wire of a 2.5mm2 lead which flicks between 0.2 and 0.3 ohms for itself. So maybe not so bad after all.

    Consumer Unit Replacement

Yes and I did use a Dremel with a wire brush and another end with sandpaper to polish the conduit but I couldn't get to do all the way around the conduit. I have another go and see if I can do a better job.

    Consumer Unit Replacement

Yes I did think about that. The guy broke the seal on my electricity meter so he could remove the tails from it to isolate the CU. Does this mean I will get in trouble from the electricity company as they may think I have been up to no good ?

    Consumer Unit Replacement

I guess I need to go around checking out each socket first of all and checking the conduit continuity between them to check out the overall state. All this just because I wanted to put a bathroom fan in and I thought if I am getting someone in to do it I might as well get them to replace the...

    Consumer Unit Replacement

By the way my die and stock arrived today and I managed to thread the conduit with an M16 thread and the 20mm to 16mm reducer fits snug on the end. M16 thread by Gazzer23 posted 8 Mar 2018 at 5:50 PM Not sure I need it now but it was an interesting exercise.

sparkwright and bernardgreen, you both have good suggestions. I definitely don't like all the bodged cables with tape or shrink wrap insulation in the CU and they need replacing for sure. The flat wiring is a mess, as someone has added to it over the years and when taking a step back and...

    Consumer Unit Replacement

For a minute I thought you meant me. I will get an Electrician to check it or maybe even do it but I want to work out a correct way to do it so when I ask him about it I can get an idea about him by his response.

    Consumer Unit Replacement

Hi Guys Almost there with my parts etc, just waiting for a die stock to arrive so I can put my M16 thread on my 5/8" conduit. I was wondering about my consumer unit when I redo it so it has proper mating with the conduits etc about moving the tails entry to the left hand side of the consumer...

    Consumer Unit Replacement

Looking at M16 dies, I see there are several types x 2, x 1.5 which refers to the thread pitch. The 20 mm to 16 mm reducer doesn't state what thread pitch it uses, I thought it would be the coarse one of 2 mm pitch that is used but then I found one in Australia which states it uses 1.5 mm...

    Consumer Unit Replacement

I was looking at custom CNC the other night, there are several places in China that do it but I suspect they require reasonable quantities. That is a very good idea, I just need to find someone with a lathe. There is a miniature railway club that we take our little boy to and they got lots of...

    Consumer Unit Replacement

I just found this very comprehensive catalogue which seems to have every kind of adaptor and they even have ones for 5/8" but based in USA I think. http://updates.clipsal.com/clipsalonline/files/brochures/cms0004.pdf So I could use a 5/8" male to 16mm female adaptor to screw into the existing...

Yes that would be nice if I could find one that way around but I have tried. I just seen these but got no idea what 0.5 or 1.0 ET is, but look at the price £999 each ;) http://www.remora.net/catalogue/Glands/Hazardous-Area-Converters/ET-Metric-Hazardous-Reducers/ET-Imperial-Metric-Reducer The...
