    Consumer Unit Replacement

Yes that is my plan as otherwise the sex is reversed as the existing pipes have a socket to screw into thus the reducer can not be used. That is the only reason I would reused the existing cut off conduit otherwise I wouldn't bother and go straight to 20mm conduit.

I am going to have to find out how to quote your responses so I can reply to them like you do. The point I was considering is that my 5/8" conduit have been cut/butchered so the one end has no thread on it currently. The photo shows the thread which will screw back into the existing conduit so...

And screw it into the existing conduit which has a threaded socket end (sorry I don't know the proper terminology) Conduit1 by Gazzer23 posted 1 Mar 2018 at 7:24 PM The 1/2" conduit sizes got me as the outside diameters are larger than 1/2" Size EMT Rigid 1/2" 0.706" 0.84" I worked...

Typical I just found a supplier after posting and I been looking for ages before hand. Pipe by Gazzer23 posted 1 Mar 2018 at 1:19 PM The problem I got is that 5/8" is a funny size as there don't seem to be any adaptors for it to convert to larger tube sizes. So I can either buy this conduit in...

True, Thanks for that anyway John Although what they are offering as a replacement might be worth more it doesn't do the same job which is a bit disappointing as I just wanted something that plugs into a socket. Still it is worth knowing and getting it replaced. It seems they put a voltage on...

Thanks for your reply, yes I will be using my multimeter to measure the resistance. I bought the following, mainly just as an easy way to check which sockets were on which circuit. https://www.screwfix.com/p/fluke-sm100-socket-tester/2460j

I put on the earth straps today after polishing the conduit so it gets a good connection and connected them together and into the CU earth terminal. So far nothing has tripped which is good news but just wondering when I test the earth at all the sockets around the flat what is an acceptable...

Ha ha I wish, good idea, I wonder if they continued with the Chinese subcontractors ? In my previous job we outsource to Bangalore in India and the team that took over from us were extremely bright clever people. The only problem was they didn't stay at that outsource company very long and staff...

Thanks RF Lighting, I understand that about flexible conduit and if I had decided to go that route I would have still put earth wires to the earth clamps on them anyway as I didn't think they would be suitable as well. Fitting proper rigid conduit would be the preferred way to go for me and I...
