    Socket enclosure for chunky plugs

Trying to find an enclosure for a socket - but every one I find there is not enough space to fit the plug as the socket is shifted to the left which means it's not centre and does not leave enough room to engage the plug. I need to use this specific switched socket, so just need to find an...

What type of hinge is this and how do I adjust it?

Think I've worked it out it's the one on the left closest to the house. The other one didn't turn (think that little screw locks it) so gave the other one a twist and it seems to have fixed it.

What type of hinge is this and how do I adjust it?

Ok I wasn't anticipating TWO screws! Which one do I turn? It's the one on the right furthest away from the house right?

What type of hinge is this and how do I adjust it?

Amazing thank you - so clockwise a bit on the middle hinge top adjuster until it doesn't catch any more then clockwise on the top of the other two hinges until I feel any slack is removed. Will give it a go thanks for the advice. Gotta try and find an allen key in the garage now.....

What type of hinge is this and how do I adjust it?

Hello internet, I'm trying to adjust one side of a French door (the master) that is catching a little bit at the bottom corner when it closes. It seems to happen after it's been open for a while and it's been baked by the sun so wonder if it's expanding a bit. Seems ok first thing in the...

Jig saw or curcular saw for cutting down deck boards and framing for transport to recycling.

Hi all OP here. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all your responses and have also had a bit of a giggle. I don't think I'm quite ready for a plasma cutter just yet but they sure do look like fun. I ended up buying a cheap circular saw from B&Q as they sent me a £6 off voucher - it was £34...

Jig saw or curcular saw for cutting down deck boards and framing for transport to recycling.

Hi all, there a quite a few posts about tools for building a deck but I'm removing mine as it's rotting away. I've managed to get all the boards up on this part of the patio and the framing joints it was sat on top of. I've removed all the screws where possible but as the joists and boards are...

Loft board installer cut longitudinal brace. Is this ok?

Yes that is what the regional guy said 'we will put the brace on the underside of the rafters so you can still access your loft'.

Loft board installer cut longitudinal brace. Is this ok?

Thanks very much for yours and everyone else who commented's advice. I escalated this to the regional manager and they are sending a team out tomorrow to fit an additional brace over the gap.

Loft board installer cut longitudinal brace. Is this ok?

Just had my loft re insulated and partially boarded with a new hatch fitted. The surveyor and installers were excellent from start to finish. But one thing I'm worried about is that the installers cut a piece of wood above the hatch opening to male it easier for me to get in and out of the loft...

    Bifold wardrobe door track

I have two fitted wardrobes with bifold doors. They sort of work but are not very smooth and I don't think they have ever had the tracks repaired since I moved in, or they have been made to make do at best. I don't really know what I'm looking at but I think there is a little wheel bit missing...

Rockdoor reviews should I be worried

I imagine the tolerances are in Rockdoor's favour and not the buyer's if something goes wrong but I can also understand why they need to put some sort of qualifier. I was hoping to have a different colour to other doors in my little row of 5 to add a bit of character to the street, blue, green...

    Roof cleaning quote vs DIY

Thanks a lot yes I've ordered some wet and forget - I have one of those pressurised sprayers and I can easily reach the whole porch with that.

    Roof cleaning quote vs DIY

Great idea - I have no problems with a brush and a bucket if I can reach! Thank you.

Rockdoor reviews should I be worried

Thank you - is that the case with all colours that are not white? As I said the front door is not in direct sunlight as it is North East facing and has a porch canopy over the top. Rockdoor's guarantee states: White and coloured foiled doors are guaranteed not to discolour within the tolerances...

    Roof cleaning quote vs DIY

Hello, I'm having my gutters replaced and thought it would be a good opportunity to clean the roof on my porch canopy. I didn't quite realise how dirty it was until looking at the survey pictures. It's about 3 metres wide by 2 metres long. Local quote was £250 which I think it a bit steep for a...

Rockdoor reviews should I be worried

I'm having all my windows and doors replaced. It's been a rollercoaster of panic and stress (involving me not being able to make decisions and a near miss with Anglian)! Anyway today's paranoia is about composite doors. Despite me thinking the whole composite thing is a price inflated rip off...

    Shelving during overboarding of loft

Hi all, I am going to have my loft reinsulated and the central area over boarded by a professional company. They also offer shelving as an option that I'm considering. I don't need a whole load of storage but it would be useful. There are quite a few posts which say this is not a good idea...

Is building control certification required for replacement guttering?

Ive looked on the planning portal and its not one of the example jobs. Ive also read part H of the buildings regs but cant find an answer. One website is saying I need it to be done buy a member of the competent person scheme but installer says its not needed. Makes sense to me that buildings...
