Please identify the pipe coming up from my hallway flooring. Image included.

I've tried cleaning it up a bit more. It looks like the thing on top of the pipe has been bashed in to block/plug it. I could be wrong though. You can see on one of the pics that the pipe coming out of the floor is thinner than the thing in the top.

The wire has now fallen off. But somebody had already cut it off before I was doing anything with it. It is something plaster stuck in the top from when I had this space plastered. It's just a hole that only goes down so far

Hello. Please can someone identify what this pipe is in my hallway? I am wanting to put wood flooring down today, so wondered if it was an old gas pipe that I cut just saw off? Thanks in advance.

Is this an old gas tap? Can I cut it off?

My gas supply actually enters the house in another room where my gas meter is. I am assuming this is an old pipe that does nothing. My house is a few hundred years old, so this sounds right, yes? Are we all saying it is gas then?

Is this an old gas tap? Can I cut it off?

I am hoping to put wood flooring in my hallway, but there is currently an obstacle in the way. It looks like a gas tap and has a little fixed key that can be turned. Turning the key seems to do nothing, but I'm not sure what it actually is. Gas pipe? It is currently covered in plaster after...

How do I get this radiator thing off (pic included)

I removed some radiators in my house and would like to sell them. There is still part of the old valve attached though which I would like to remove. On the image you can see part of the valve that spins on the spot when spun. However, that's not the issue. Inside the radiator this piece is...

Multifuel burner - Is there a legal requirement for space around it?

Combustibles. However, I wouldn't class the bricks at the back as combustible. Does this mean I can put it closer?

Multifuel burner - Is there a legal requirement for space around it?

I have bought a multi fuel burner to sit inside the chimney breast in my cottage. The manual that it comes with says there should be space around the sides, back and front. 15cm for the sides (left and right) 30cm for the back front and top. Is this an unquestionable must? If I space it 30cm...

Is this too much for a rewire? North East England

I had my last house rewired. It was a 3 bed semi. My new house is a 1 bed cottage. It's 25% smaller than my last one in square meters. The quote to rewire this time is 53% more money than in my last. There are about 3 years difference from having the last one done to receiving this quote. My...

Multi fuel burners - are there regs on output vs room size

I have a small sitting room, and would like to put in a multi fuel burner. The KW calculator says I only need a 2kw burner, but I'm not sure that they even exist. Are there regulations preventing me from putting (for example) a 5kw burner in?

Oh! There was a gas fire in there at some point. There was a gas pipe by the side of the chimney breast

    opening and reinstating a fireplace

Why would they need to fill it if a fireplace was then put in front? Is it for warmth?

    opening and reinstating a fireplace

I want to open my chimney breast up for a log burner, but its full of wonky bricks and cement. Has this been done for any particular reason? Can I just rip them out, or will it be structural? Thanks

Is this a gas pipe or water pipe?

My gas is disconnected, so the water won't run hot to feel the pipe change in temperature.
