Yes it dropped a lot slower without the taps being on - but accelerated when more volume was passed. New part is about £68 ex vat so that's a relief (as the next step may have been looking for leaking pipes!) Thanks again.

Problem solved! (BTW - when I refered to the shower I also meant that as hot water, as well as the hot water taps). After a few hours we found that the expansion vessel was full of water (entirely). So a new one is ordered and will be fitted soon. Thanks for your help guys :D

Thanks for that - this looks like a minefield! The symptoms are now that the boiler fires up fine for CH whenever it's supposed to (with hot rads), however as soon as I turn the hot water on (e.g. shower) the system loses pressure and the low system pressure light comes on. The CH will only...
