    Made a discovery but don't know if it helps?: with rocker switch pressed in at bottom - nothing at either switch BUT with rocker switch pressed in at top - lights come on and will switch off at 2nd switch

    DONE wiring as below but it is just working from the switch with 2 cables. Any other ideas please, loathe to admit defeat! Red and Black cable- Red to L1, Black to L2. Red, Blue and Yellow cable at both switches- Red to L1, Blue to L2, Yellow to Com

    You are right about interesting! Both rocker switches work fine when wired one way. Checked wire colours repeatedly, all good. Not got one of those testers though but have got little screwdriver with neon light?!

    I've tested both switches with the red & black wires as suggested above, the lights work that way. photos taken on swith backs. I've rewired carefully and tightly as before and nothing doing

    Just to confirm that it is a dimmer switch. The switches control 2 lights but the bulbs are fine, thought of that one! I will try those suggestions tomorrow morning. Thanks
