    Good riddance tobacco!

Oh .. okay, strictly within the bounds of smoking then ... you know when you mentioned celebrities glamourizing smoking? I've found a famous anti-smoking campaigner you'll like. You seem as equally zealous. Hitler. The state performer in antismoking propaganda was Adolf Hitler. As one...

    Good riddance tobacco!

It's a fair point because you're now on about protecting kids from an unhealthy vice. Like smoking is the only one. So I presume if you had a kid you'd feel okay if he/she was a crack head or a binge drinker as long as he didn't smoke. The point that seems to consistently escape you...

    Good riddance tobacco!

Well said joinerjohn. I always go woffling on instead. You put it very concisely. Years back they allowed kiddies into pubs, which to me is an adult environment anyway, so I'd stopped going the pub years before the smoking ban. The goverment have picked on smokers first ... that's all.

    Good riddance tobacco!

You're missing the point. As you helpfully quoted what I'd said earlier. Yes ... I smoke. I know the risks. I agree with the NO smoking in public. What I find shortsighted by the the more rabid anti-smoker is this idea that smoker's are the ONLY ones who drain the NHS and inflict self abuse...

    Good riddance tobacco!

Yes ... well .. with a remark like that I imagine if there was still public whipping in the streets you'd be there cheering along. With such strength of public feeling the goverment can not fail. Next target? Only in Scotland mind, as yet .. (in line with mainland Europe) ... but is...

    Good riddance tobacco!

 I got all this when I first posted. I've never ever been here before but if I'm going to get flak cos you think I'm someone I'll leave you all in peace and go find somewhere else to chat.

    Good riddance tobacco!

 Down boy! Down! (assuming you're a boy). I love a good debate but if I'm going to get up anyone's nose I'll take a hike.

    Good riddance tobacco!

 I do don't I. Never can be short and pithy. I'm working on it. My shoes? No. I love boots.

    Good riddance tobacco!

I don't talk ****. ... so fear not. After the blood pressure check and usual questionaire when the .... Do you smoke and if so how many? question arose it was pointed out to me that my Health Authority guidelines now reserved the right to refuse to offer the service to smokers though they were...

    Good riddance tobacco!

Ah .. I didn't save the link (or think to post it) and can't find the site now. So I'll have to let that one go ... But I did find this one whilst trawling. It's not 1 in 9 smokers ...it's 1 in 20 http://medicalxpress.com/news/2012-08-hospital-beds-smoking-related-illnesses.html My point...

    Good riddance tobacco!

How naive, though I admire your gleeful zealotry but I think you'll find Utopia is still a long way off. Both financially and medically. The NHS already report that 1 in 8 beds are taken by alcohol related illness and the cost is unsustainable. When the smoker social leper has been dealt with...

    Ok ...Hanging & Capital punishment

I give up. I'll leave you guys to it. I only came here to read about insulating sheds. Suffice to say ... you've just about covered all the mitigating circumstances that a savvy lawyer bombards a jury with to exonerate a murderer from his crime.

    Good riddance tobacco!

Look at it this way then joe If tobacco is made illegal I might as well move upto heroin and then I could get on sick benefits indefinitely and get free methadone instead of been a filter-tip junkie and working and paying my taxs. Who knows, I might be able to do the same anyway due to tobacco...

Isn't that why we have manslaughter or murder? For myself I'm talking about multiple murderers.

    Ok ...Hanging & Capital punishment

With all respect it's people with that attitude that the convicted murderer loves. Hence we had Brady with his mental health advocate and Hindley with Lord Longford championing their rights. Do-gooder's who allowed themselves to be manipulated. And when looking at the causes of crime I'm not...

    Good riddance tobacco!

I'm a smoker, I'm just accepting that's the way it will end with the goverment encouraged to pass more legislation by the holier than thou brigade. I'm just glad I don't drive, or drink and aren't fat, as yes, you've hit the nail on the head. Who will be next.

    Ok ...Hanging & Capital punishment

Quite right ... A revenge killing is murder but if you want to cite real bigoted, brutal, legalised killing you only need to look at Sharia Law. Death by stoning for homosexuality or adultery. Often with no trial but a public lynching and execution. The Death Penalty , a fair trial by jury ...

    Good riddance tobacco!

It's been claimed on this thread that no convincing arguement has been said for allowing smokers to smoke. As far as I can see nor have any anti-smoking fans produced anything convincing either. It's one of those contentious subjects. But .. a growing number of people are anti-smoking and...

    Ok ...Hanging & Capital punishment

Show me a civilised country where there are NO murderers and I'll go live there instead. Don't think one exists human nature being what it is. Civilisation is a veneer, as is obvious when you think how many so-called civilised countries send armies off to fight. Kill or be killed. Some Humans...
