MR16 Amber 50W 12V Lamps are available practically anywhere--But Its the Lamp Sockets that are SO CRAP--the lamps outlast 'em! Do NOT use 'LED' low energy lamps--they will not work properly, the smoke will just sit in bottom of the fire The lamps Must be 50W Halogen....

Orange-tank--Do as advised earlier in this thread--ie, Go to Maplin and buy the small mister device L38AK and fit that.

    Dimplex Opti-Myst fires

No--Transducer failure will not cause the fire to shut down, only no mist production. If you have the usual grey sump/blue water-tank and you have this fault, then the electronics inside the sump are faulty and need repairs. This is the classic failure mode, and Ive repaired many dozens like...

Welshcouple-- Ah--Thats good to know. So--The Maplin mist-maker fits and works. I suspect it is exactly the same device. --Even though marked differently the fact it works and acts the same--ie, too much mist rather confirms this in my mind... With the earlier type--Mist production was...

    Dimplex Opti-Myst fires

Two Reasons..... Mainly--It Just Wont Fit! The space is only about 1.5" wide, and if you managed to find one that was small enough to fit--The water-level above the transducer would be way too small. This is a critical distance for correct operation.

You could POSSIBLY use the Maplin Mister in the Later type--with the Orange water-tank, but it definitely will NOT fit in the earlier type sump.... Earlier type--Blue water tank--Repairable. Later type --Orange water Tank--Not repairable, you have to replace the KERI Mister 'puck'--which...

    Dimplex Opti-Myst fires

Oldtimer-- Not sure so much with your later version if the mist level is adjustable. I suspect that the amount the Keri 'puck' develops is constant, and the fan speed is altered to effect alteration of the amount of mist driven out of the sump box/diffuser..... Easy way to tell--Check the...

    Dimplex Opti-Myst fires

From my experience,--Taken care of helps, but does not help the reliability all that much. They are not what I would call reliable--in any way shape or form in their standard--from the factory--format. I upgrade the earlier type, but your'e stuck with what you buy with the later type, as they...

    Dimplex Opti-Myst fires

As a reference-point--The LATER TYPE Opti-Myst with the ORANGE Water-Tank uses the 'KERI' type transducer/mist-generator. From Dimplex these are around £50. Interestingly--They look a LOT like the ones Maplin sell for £20-- http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/mini-fogger-mist-generator-l38ak --I...

A chip based boost-regulator with switching MOSFET having very low RDS-On is used for raising the 12V supply to 24 volts for the RF power-stage that drives the transducer. --WHY its done this way is to ensure a stabilised, dedicated 24V rail with over-current protection for the RF stage and...

Its an odd process. Real wacky science.... Ultrasonic Cleaning is done at say 50 to 100KHz and causes cavitation of the fluid/cleaner/water at the surface of whatever is to be cleaned. Apart from slight fluid disturbance, there's nothing much to see IME. Mist-Making is done at a Very much...

Its basically across the board with electrical/electronic items. This is a little off-topic, but interesting anyway--- TV Sets Particularly are built to fail! (My main work) These are built Only To Last 3 Years! A friend of mine works for a very well known set-top-box/PVR maker. Recently...

    Dimplex Opti-Myst fires

Ive been repairing these things for about 3 years now, via Ebay.... Trouble is, these fires are a Brilliant Idea--Terribly Executed! They are just CRAP MADE! Issues such as poor finish quality/tarnishing fake brass are just the simple issues. The fires suffer from many more troubles...
