    Wiring query for Gravity system

    I agree; from a wiring point of view, I could put in the new programmer without any problems - it couldn't be easier. I'm just concerned that the new programmer might put out a signal for CH only (i.e. no HW) and my plumbing wont handle it. What what I've learnt so far, my system isnt a...

    Wiring query for Gravity system

    The old programmer isnt broken but it's clunky and difficult to turn. Every time I turn the dial it feels like it's going to break and sometimes the dial goes round without actually turning the shaft behind. I would like to have a '1hr boost' of heating or water without having to clunk the...

    Wiring query for Gravity system

    The previous owners were in for 19 years and did not touch the roof at all. I dont know the age of the cylinder. Thanks for this information. I dont actually want to do any work on the system. I simply want to know if I can replace the programmer with a modern programmer (i.e. Drayton...

    Wiring query for Gravity system

    Thanks for sticking with this one D. I'll try to answer these questions ... Without ripping up boards it's difficult to see where any of the pipes actually go. I'm assuming to pipe 'out' of the boiler goes into the pump. The other pipe from the boiler is not so easy to trace - it may be one...

    Wiring query for Gravity system

    It's proving difficult to map out all of the pipes but heres a first part. The boiler only has two (28mm?) pipes going from the ground floor up to a bedroom where at least one of them ends up in a cupboard. This photo shows the pump and valve but I cannot clarify which pipes are water and...

    Wiring query for Gravity system

    Tonight I'll try to map out the pipework and see where it all goes. I dont know if this will help at all.

    Wiring query for Gravity system

    1. I 'assumed' I had a gravity system from responses in another thread. - Yes the hot water tank is in the loft. 2. I dont know the valve type but it is just a 2 port valve with a manual override lever. I will try to find out the model number (if any) of the valve and pump and post back...

    Wiring query for Gravity system

    I have been trying to work out the wiring on my existing system and came up with these options - I can't check the wiring completely as it is all hidden. Option 1: Option 2: Are either of these correct for a Gravity DHW and pumped CH system? There is no thermostat on the hot...

    Danfoss Randall 3060 --> Drayton Tempus 7

    I dont have a thermostat on hot water cylinder. It appears that the signal for the hot-water has been wired directly to the pump/valve - i.e. working as if the thermostat was always sending 'on'. Is this ok for a gravity system? What would stop the water from getting too hot? I've been...

    Danfoss Randall 3060 --> Drayton Tempus 7

    How can I tell if I have a gravity system? Excuse my ignorance but how, electrically, is a gravity system different to a pumped system?

    Danfoss Randall 3060 --> Drayton Tempus 7

    I think I've sorted out where they all go ... A -> Room Thermostat B -> Pump C -> 2-way valve D -> Boiler - with Earth actually wired to Neutral it still works E -> still no idea ! There is no cylinder stat so it is bypassed and the HW control goes directly to the pump. The way it...

    Danfoss Randall 3060 --> Drayton Tempus 7

    Chris: Thanks for the info. I have now managed to download wiring diagrams for both controllers from the appropriate websites. The current wiring confuses my a bit so I would appreciate some confirmation of what I have. The white lead (right) is the power. The other three painted...

    Danfoss Randall 3060 --> Drayton Tempus 7

    We have a very old looking 3060 programmer and wish to change it. I have been looking at the Drayton Tempus 7 as a replacement. Does anyone have advice on either product? It it a straight swap?

    Pipe repair - Metal Epoxy

    you're right. I reworked some of the pipes and added some drain off valves. My original two leaks is now three. At least I can drain the pipes now and make proper repairs.

    Pipe repair - Metal Epoxy

    Has anyone used the Wickes "Metal Epoxy" Repair Putty on C/H pipes? I have a leaking pipe which is very difficult to repair properly without removing a few other lengths of pipe. This stuff can be used on plumbing repairs, leaking pipes, radiators and tanks. It bonds permanently to aluminium...

    The area has finally been cleared of poo, clay pipe and rubble. I have marked the remaining bit of clay pipe on the right hand side. Just waiting for the repair now.

    Open soil pipe

    no more pics (yet). The plumber arrived but refused to do any work until the area had been sanitised. The flies are very bad. Back to my insurance company now. They are due to visit in a couple of days to assess the extent of the damage and appoint repairers.

    Open soil pipe

    You couldn't have been more accurate ! .... lots of them! Luckily the insurance company arranged a gulley sucker to get rid of them all. Cause: A broken pipe 18" below the floor which must have been there for months before we bought the house. Due to poor flushing of the toilet (and...

    Open soil pipe

    I've just seen this thread No open soil pipe vents and now wonder what I need to do for venting after I seal the soil pipes ? There is no soil stack as this is ground floor and the clay pipes run under ground.
