    when have you ever seen appliances fitted with 15a round pin plugs. like, never. if anyone ever see you wire up an appliance like this, they would think you was pulling their pi55a. 99% of people only know one type of socket outlet.

    put it another way. if it comes with a plug, then why cut it off and wire it into a fcu above work surface. if its your kitchen, then you know where its plugged in. a socket outlet in the unit next to the appliance every time. where do you draw the line? toasters and kettles next.

    which makes them low voltage. (upto 1000v) and not extra low voltage. (upto 50v.) :) SELV.=separated extra low voltage. (no earth)

    if you do chase in, dont forget there is a max chase depth. its less for horizontal chases than it is for vertical ones. i must admit, we chase in even when we dot and dab. less dot and dab gear and the finished walls are straighter afterwards.

    what adam is saying is. what will the pump be using energy wise. ie, what wattage is the motor. you cant work out the cable size without this VITAL bit of info.

    how long ago were the bricks laid? it takes a while for the muck to go really hard. depends how old it is. after about a week in this weather, it should be solid.

    ok, ive got my dis assessment due in the next few weeks, and i have a couple of questions. hopefully you lads can help me out. 1. when testing the rcd for trip times, etc. is it best to test the rcd at the consumer unit. ie, remove the cover and probe directly, or via the plug in lead...

    my neighbour is a real p r i c k. we done the wiring, tested and connected it up. all was well. he said to me the next day, ive got a gripe. he put a spirit level on one of the sockets and it is not level. but, he wont get the old sparky back to sort his s h i t paperwork out.
