Thanks all for the advice. For now I've cut the pipe and fitted a push fitting cap. Judging by the paint I think it was quite a lot lower so tomorrow I'll see if the radiator will fit if I pull the pipe up a bit. If not I'll solder some extra pipe on.

Thanks for the reply, I've tried taking it off and replacing the valve but it's still loose. There is a bit of play left but not a huge amount maybe 1-2cm.

When I was removing the radiator to do some painting, I rotated the nut too hard and think I've slightly bent the pipe, which is now leaking. The lockshield valve is loose when installed and can be wiggled from side to side. Is there anything I can do to fix this or does it need a new pipe? Thanks
