Boiler fused spur and power cut

Do you have anyway to check the boiler will run on a portable power supply before forking out for one? Some require an earth connection that the portable power supply might not supply. Something to do with flame-detection I believe, no doubt someone with more knowledge will comment.

Lagging for an external condensate pipe

I've been looking at Armaflex, and both Class 0 & 1 specs say they need to be painted or covered for UV protection. I might just try getting the normal stuff again and painting it.

Lagging for an external condensate pipe

Yeah, there is a trace heater under the lagging now and that works fine. I'm just having real trouble sourcing UV resistant insulation to fit. You say painting it is an option - never even thought of that. Just with normal exterior paint?

Lagging for an external condensate pipe

Not this one, it HAS frozen - before the lagging+heater was fitted.

Lagging for an external condensate pipe

Can someone point me in the direction of the correct lagging for an external condensate pipe? After mine froze up a few years ago, I fitted a strip heater and lagged it and it's been fine since. BUT the lagging has deteriorated badly, I'm guessing from UV exposure. What's the correct product to...

    Loud rushing pumped water tank

Not connected to the noise you're hearing, but flexible connectors are not supposed to be used like that. They're supposed to be almost straight - to adsorb vibration. Not tightly curved to connect up the piping.

Flood lights - can anyone recommend a really good make/model that lasts more than a couple of years?

I bought a couple of Phillips floodlights a while ago, haven't really had them running for long enough know how good they really are but they've already outlasted the previous 'MEIHUA' ones! Here they are - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DQQ7SS3N?th=1 (They're available with PIR as well)

How best to minimise boiler noise?

Our boiler is mounted in a cupboard actually in the bedroom. Can hardly heard it. The pipes creaking as they expand make more noise. It's an ideal logic max c30.

Does the ideal logic max display always stay lit up or can I dim/turn it off?

hmm .. mine 'times-out' after 20 seconds or so and goes out. It only comes on when you touch/move one of the controls.

Should I ger my chimney capped now my back boiler has been disconnected?

Just had a very similar experience, damp around a redundant chimney after we had an old floor-standing cast iron boiler replaced with a combi. We had a guy take a look at it and the whole chimney was rotten, we had it removed and tiled-over. It was not much more than a half a day's work for two...

Fitting 100A isolation switch between meter and consumer unit

When I had my smart meter installed, the fitter installed an isolator switch for free. I had to request it when he arrived - he said he only fits them if asked but doesn't charge.

    Can I Isolate This Setup?

Yes, that's what the guy did. He was very friendly and didn't at all mind me sitting next to him going "Are you allowed to remove that big fuse", "what's that bit for", "what are you doing now" etc. etc.
