    Plasterboards for ceilings

Hi everyone Could anyone help please! I just replaced old ceilings in bedrooms with 9.5mm boards. Are they thick enough to last? Do I need to cross board with another layer of 9.5mm? Or should I have used 12.5mm? Early reply would be appreciated. Thanks

    Soakaway

Good morning! Would anyone be able to advise on construction of domestic rainwater soakaway. I am aware it needs to be a min 5m from the main dwelling, approximately 2mcubic below outlet. I calculated 1mcubic per every 16sqm of roof, as per BC regs. Not sure of the layers needed...

    DIY two storey extension

Thanks Dulux Your reply came just in time. We have prepared everything for tomorrow morning. I fixed battens horizontally and flush between the rafters every 1500mm to be able to staple edge of the foil to them. Wasn't aware that I have to do it. Actis own website and Triso UK website have...

    DIY two storey extension

Hi Everyone! So I am ready for my Tri Iso 10 to go on the roof tomorrow morning. There needs to be 25mm gap between multifoil and breather membrane. Membrane needs to sag a bit between rafters. I am using 38x25 battens. If it sags there will be less than 25mm gap! What do I do? BC...

Wow Chri5!!!!!!!!!!! I am not too sure what is your problem. How I do I discredit "you folks" and my boys? I have been told by "your folks" to sack my Polish builders as they know nothing. On this assumption the whole credit has to go to me! They are doing a fantastic job but they...

    DIY two storey extension

Thanks Noseall Tri Iso Super 10 has a valid TRADA certificate. I cannot understand why some Local Authorities love it while others hate it. It is permissable in Scotland and all over continental Europe. Isn't it because it is made in France??????

    DIY two storey extension

Thanks to Noseall and Pantsmachine! I have reached an impasse!!!!!!!!!!!!! My plans suggest truss roof. I am doing cut roof supported on walls which already have a lot of steel beams/columns. There is obviously additional load from cut roof. I therefore need to build a supporting wall to...

Thanks Noseall! Of course we will restrain it before doing anything else! Shall I also nail it to blockwork? So far extended old roof and now coming to hip area... Old hip blades are massive: 2.5 inch by 9inch. Do we really need them as big as this? How do I connect old/new purlin...

Thanks again Noseall. Span of new roof is approximate 10m x 5.20m. Purlins are supported by posts sitting on double joists. If 6x3 is too flimsy should I change it or just continue with 8/9x3 in new part? Rafters seem to be in a very good condition considering the house dates back to...

Thank God for Noseall!!! My architect specified trussed roof. I decided to go for cut version because we have another small hip roof joined to it and it all seemed too complicated. Original purlins are odd size: 150mm x 80mm so I will probably go for 6x3 if I can find such size! I...
