Wired OpenHAB Type Central Heating Control with Rad Valves and Room Sensing.

The draught issue is a good point, but hopefully the general layout and flexibility will allow this to be fine tuned out, and the essential zoning down to radiator level has to be better than just two zones from this aspect...? If both rads at the end of a flow and return leg are shut ok their...

Wired OpenHAB Type Central Heating Control with Rad Valves and Room Sensing.

Hello, Many thanks for the very detailed reply, I did read it on my phone when you posted and thought that it deserves a more detailed reply when I was next at my PC and then things got the better of me! I have had many people suggest that individual room monitoring of temperature is a little...

Cement render or Bonding Coat for large chases left by built in furniture removal.

Yes, my bag of enthusiastically bought bonding plaster is now a few weeks past best and the multifinish - still unopened - is getting close to being past it's lifetime... Will gave to muscle the courage to have a go with it soon...

Cement render or Bonding Coat for large chases left by built in furniture removal.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have been PVAing the chases, and incidentally one other question would be that the back of the PVA bottle says to use it neat ok bonding coats, but most of the internet and DIY books say to dilute about 1:4 or 1:6, which seems more sensible? Any thoughts on that...

Cement render or Bonding Coat for large chases left by built in furniture removal.

Hi All, 1975 era house with a mix of Concrete block and Cinder block internal walls which I am certain were cement rendered and skim plastered originally. I have removed a lot of built in wardrobes and also cut many chases for wiring and have been filling chases to circa 2mm sub surface with...

Wired OpenHAB Type Central Heating Control with Rad Valves and Room Sensing.

Hello, During recent renovation works I have installed a single gang pattress box in most rooms near the light switches with provision for wiring cat5 / 8 Core Alarm cable back to the airing cupboard / boiler control area. I am also putting in provision for getting 4 core alarm cable to each...

Surge Protection Devices (SPD) in domestic dwellings - Type 1 or 2 in CU for overhead feed property on TT.

I think that to provide protection against the direct effects of lightning, one would likely need something more than a Fusebox SPDCUKITT1. Probably a new pair of underwear as well. It is all a bit vague and open to interpretation... Another thought is that you could likely replace a good few...

Surge Protection Devices (SPD) in domestic dwellings - Type 1 or 2 in CU for overhead feed property on TT.

Hi John, To be honest, the wording is mainly what I have come across on various websites (as per examples in above post) which simply state that properties on overhead lines should have a Type 1 SPD. I am inclined to agree with you (especially as the bulk of these websites are either SPD...

Surge Protection Devices (SPD) in domestic dwellings - Type 1 or 2 in CU for overhead feed property on TT.

This sounds like a similar arrangement, and indeed I am also looking at a switch fuse to a garage, though I am tempted to opt for a RCD Fuse (SF0100RA Time Delay / S Curve rather than SF0100) to protect the feed to it (which would then also allow me to dispense with the vintage Wylex 100ma RCD...

Surge Protection Devices (SPD) in domestic dwellings - Type 1 or 2 in CU for overhead feed property on TT.

Thanks for the replies! Indeed, I had the Fusebox SPDCUKITT1 in mind, to fit into a Fusebox 21 way master switch CU (which is a 24p box, with a blank to the right of the main switch for the single width type 2 SPD that would be there if you bought the SPD bundles CU). Hence the pondering on how...

Surge Protection Devices (SPD) in domestic dwellings - Type 1 or 2 in CU for overhead feed property on TT.

A thought process that I was wondering if others had also pondered: Consumer units with preinstalled Type 2 SPDs have become a very common sight since the 18th edition has more or less mandated them, with almost every manufacturer offering them by default across their range now. These are...
