Yes (the earthing sleeve is due to be fitted when the plumber comes back, hopefully this week):

Electrical cable for 9kW electric boiler

Thanks guys. We have established that 6mm is good for this but is 6mm T&E OK? Apart from the cable being too thin he also questioned the type saying T&E is not suitable and heat resistant flex should be fitted.

Electrical cable for 9kW electric boiler

I looked in the switch - moulded writing on it says 10mm from the top and the side exit says 6mm. I really don't know. Made the mistake of speaking to the boiler manufacturers for their opinion and he said, he would fit it with 10mm. More doubt in my mind.

Electrical cable for 9kW electric boiler

He has great reviews on Trust a Trader but me being me I like to investigate everything online. So, finally, T&E 6mm is also suitable and I don't need heat resistant flex?

Electrical cable for 9kW electric boiler

Any thoughts on it currently being 6mm T&E and not heat resistant flex? Thanks for all the help by the way!

Electrical cable for 9kW electric boiler

B40 30mA is on the RCBO, switch is 45A. The electrician tells me:

Electrical cable for 9kW electric boiler

He also wants to fit a different switch (to allow termination of the 10mm flex). The RCBO was fitted with 10mm and the double pole - it was then left for the plumbers to commission the boiler (electrician seems uneasy about leaving the suitable cable ready for the boiler. I am probably...

Electrical cable for 9kW electric boiler

Nope, I mean 25cm! The boiler is next to the switch in the same room on the same wall. Doesn't need clipping even.

Electrical cable for 9kW electric boiler

I am not sure. It has a 10mm supply from it to the switch though. Cable is not through insulation but is in the room with the boiler where the CU is too. No idea is it is using the 9kW at all times - the dial is at about 45%. To be honest we might as well just get it done, take the cost...

Electrical cable for 9kW electric boiler

Hi all, We have had fitted a 9kW electric boiler. The cable used from the double pole switch (fitted by an electrician with the RCOB) is 6mm - is 6mm suitable for this? The cable is 25cm long and we run the boiler at under half demand. It does not get hot just a slightly warm. The...

    Grundfos Bronze Pump

The pipe off (flowing away) the bronze pump connects to the middle of a t-piece - the other parts of the T goes to the cylinder cold inlet (as part of the circuit) and the other part of the T is fed from the mains water. Do these pumps have a hidden off switch?

    Grundfos Bronze Pump

I can't believe the difference in noise. The blue Terrier Pegler so so audible when running but the bronze is absolutely silent at any speed and nor can it be felt spinning.

    Grundfos Bronze Pump

Sorry my mistake - yes it is the hot return - what threw me was it is connected via a t-piece to the tank and on the tank it says "Cold inlet". On the other part of the t-piece is the actual cold feed. Obviously as it is the hot on a circuit both sides are hot and after the boiler has run...

    Grundfos Bronze Pump

Hi, We have a Grundfos Bronze Pump in our system which I think circulates the return cold water pipes for our flat. When we moved in 2.5 years ago to now I noticed it was always hot an extremely quiet. I thought this was normal. We have just had a new boiler fitted and they re-wired it to...

Electrical supply for 9kW Electric flow boiler

Many thanks for the calculations. The real cost is very interesting. The quotes for a new gas boiler is £3000 + all the work to get the flue through the bedroom plus moving the gas supply if it went on the outside wall and finding a drain somewhere for the condensate so maybe £4000 (a lot of...

Electrical supply for 9kW Electric flow boiler

Our flat is between 2 others so that helps which is why we don't use the heating much. At the moment we get the boiler to do one cycle ever two days to give us 2 days of hot water. Going to call the electric company tomorrow to see what options there are.

Electrical supply for 9kW Electric flow boiler

Yes, I know you all mean well and I appreciate the input. I will ask a couple of estate agents I know. We have not decided on this blind - 2 engineers have come round and have agreed with our plan. Have also asked someone who lives in a new build flat who also has an electric boiler waht his...

Electrical supply for 9kW Electric flow boiler

But what option do we have? I am seeing that am immersion heater could be good for the hot water - what is the running cost of these? Need enough hot water for 20 mins of water in the morning plus the odd bit in the evening.
