    Media Training Suite

Yeah relatively easy to set up to be honest with you, I know some manufacturers do kits, should you want an easy to wire faceplate with various inputs for PC, composite, audio etc. Yeah you will need an amp for the speakers unless you decide to go down the powered route, where the amplifier is...

    2 x 63A Feeds Into Flat

Please say something useful or nothing at all, I'm a great fan of planning things and understanding everything before actually comitting to anything. I'm just asking for advice so that I don't get fleeced by the people I ask to come and do the job!

    2 x 63A Feeds Into Flat

Just spoken to local chap who said the reason there used to be two feeds to each flat was due to most places being dual tariff, this is no longer the case, and I'm assuming rather than just leaving the other 63 to do nothing they decided to repurporse it to get a bit of extra capacity. Is 63...

    2 x 63A Feeds Into Flat

I'm guessing by isolating one of the supplies you mean just running on a single 63A feed ? I need to open up one of the boxes again if you wanted conductor sizes, it has been a while since I have looked in there. I can't see a major problem with this in all honesty, we do not have a power...

    2 x 63A Feeds Into Flat

Ok, I can't get to the downstairs flat at the moment but I can explain what goes on down there. These are the two boxes that I have in my house, I have taken the first cover off, I can lift the main cover off if you needed images of the interior. 2 x 63A Feeds Into Flat

There was talk of removing the two 63A fuses and replacing it with a single 125A fuse and connecting both runs together on either end. Is this something that would be possible, it was suggested by a friend of mine with only limited electrical knowledge. I'm just looking to get as clued us...

    Connecting PC to Television Monitor.

That should do you perfectly, means you can use a DVI - HDMI cable and you should get the best signal quality possible, as you ain't having to convert from analogue to digital and vice versa. To be honest with you I'd disable the onboard graphics, you will no doubt see a slight speed increase...

Get sky installer in or independant fitter?

To be honest, I'd get SKY in to get one of the boxes installed, if you search around online there are usually codes which will result in your fitting being free. I'd then get an independant guy in to run the RF feed from your skybox to an RF Dist / Amp in the cellar, since it's only a bit of...

    ITV & C4 Reception problems.

Might be that the signal doesn't get amplified as much in your new LCD, might be worth trying an aerial AMP, I do remember when I lived in Camden that without the aerial AMP my LCD was pretty damned poor. You should be able to pick up one that just goes between your wall socket and LCD and...

    I need better speakers....

Just so you know, it ain't always the speakers that are at fault, some of the Audio on YouTube is pretty badly compressed, this will make even the best of speakers sound cack. Dell speakers are usually alright, I know in the past some of their speakers have just been harmon kardon rebrands...

    computer "burnt out!

At a guess it's gonna be the PSU, the majority of other components won't fail, the hard drives occasionally do, but they wont produce smoke. 9 times out of 10 your MOBO won't be damaged by the PSU going pop. Swapping a PSU is a fairly easy thing to do, should take about 15minutes, failing this...

    Connecting PC to Television Monitor.

Does your graphics card have DVI out ? DVI - HDMI cables are dirt cheap and will guarantee you the best quality. I currently use one to connect my media center to my LCD. To be honest if your graphics card doesn't have DVI out then you'd be best off upgrading that too. HTH

    Packard Bell Audio Board/Spare Parts

Gary, Sounds like you are pretty happy taking things apart, I'd seriously recommend buying a new soundcard, something like a creative sound blaster live would probably do and will only cost a couple of quid from ebay. Whip teh case of and get it installed in a spare PCI slot, install the...

    Windows Home Server

Totally depends what you want to do with it to be honest, I tried using it and it didn't work out for me. In the end for fileseving duties (connected to 3 different media players) I ended up going with Freenas, which is a linux based (free) operating system that is relatively easy to...

    Weather Proofing a Sky installation.......

Really wouldn't worry about not having an exterior cover, the only few times I have seen them used is to hide fascia damage to the brick. Filling the hole with silicone seems to be the done thing these days, and is pretty damned good at preventing water ingress.

    2 x 63A Feeds Into Flat

Nope they are both mine, running to two old units in the house, the both appear to be split on my side of the meter (there is only one meter for both feeds). Can turn the kitchen / bathroom one off and the meter keeps on running until I turn the one that feeds both bedrooms off. Hope that...

    2 x 63A Feeds Into Flat

Hi Guys. I've been a long time lurker, learnt loads of stuff, but now have a bit a weird question for you guys. I bought a flat a few months back with a view to renovating it, it's not in a bad state, but it looks like the old owner was a bit of a dabbler who was rubbish at DIY. Needless...
