    9 inch is fine, but then you have to do it from both sides as the 9 inch as a cutting depth of 2 to 3 inch

    If that would have happend to me, i would have thought i had hit a pipe I will be honest i have never seen springs that powerfull, but everything is possible I have no idea with so much spontanious water what would work in your garden

    you sure you have a spring as you say you have heavy clay soil, well heavy clay soil doesn;t drain - well so it could look like you have a spring, but actually you have a lot of standing water on top of the clay

    is the loft insulated / boarded / easy accesable So you know you cannot share the chimney, the gas heater needs a flue straight outside (shorted distance possible)

    is is surface mounted?? 1 gang vs 2 gang stands if it is for a single build in box, or for a double build in box. I would go as it is for garden stuff with a double ip65 rcd one surface mounted, and as said before, if you can get it in the ring, perfect / better
