thanks - very educational. If you have an unbalanced supply can it cause noise problems in the pipes? reason I ask is I get loud banging noises around the area of the taps.
Apologies - I have an unvented hot water system - water cylinder is 290L and boiler is 37KW. I had the mains pipe renewed during building work. Let me know if you need any other information. Thanks
@opps - I will need to put the foam idea to the plumber - I do think noise is coming from pipes in a boxed section
@Alec_t - I don't think I have a water tank with a float valve
@denso 13 - Yes the main stopcock in the house was replaced
Thanks everyone for your replies

I'm not judging my plumber based on a few posts on this forum
My confidence in my plumber isn't high for a numbers of reasons
1) It took me a year of chasing to get him to complete the commissioning document. He didn't register the boiler with Vaillant so my 10yr warranty was worthless. And...
General question - is it reasonable to ask my installer if he balanced system after powerflush, new boiler, new cylinder and three new radiators? I'm putting together a list of things I want my installer to look at when I ask him to come back
Flow pipe warming up before the return on the boiler. The flow pipe connecting to HW cylinder (top pipe) is warm but not as warm as the flow pipe going into boiler although they are connected to same pipework.
