Mystery switch and recommissioning a Scantronic 9448+

It clearly has one cable that goes to the CU. Nothing more to be discovered!

Mystery switch and recommissioning a Scantronic 9448+

It does nothing. Presumably whatever it was originally for has been removed.

    Sound Proofing for noisy neighbours?

How much space can you afford to lose? Here is a website with some diagrams. Note I don't know anything about this company and am not recommending them, I post this only because they have some diagrams showing possible wall constructions that I guess illustrate the possibilities reasonably...

Just renovating the living room. Does anyone know what this is for?

50/50 socket fed vs. storage heater circuit, IMHO. Need to be checked.

But that doesn't tell them what feeds it.

Just renovating the living room. Does anyone know what this is for?

A hole for a flex to come out through.

Just renovating the living room. Does anyone know what this is for?

Possibly disused, since it has a flex outlet on the front with no flex coming out of it. Turn it off and see what happens.

Low L–N insulation readings on ring final – normal?

Edit: hang on, this is a *plug-in* tester, right? Well of course you'll only see the fault when the switch is on. It's either a genuine fault, or you're doing something wrong. It's not "an artefact of the ring circuit". Edit: any USB sockets?

    Dodgy Superser portable Butane heater.

I think it's more than that, and butane will be similar: C4H10 + 6.5 O2 -> 4 CO2 + 5 H2O Assume H weighs nothing and C and O weigh the same; then 4 units of butane burn to produce 5 units of water, by weight.

    socket isnt even striaght......

Why? So that you can use your hairdryer in the bathroom. It's not an unreasonable thing to want to do, and we ought to be seriously considering how we can make it possible.

    Sound Proofing for noisy neighbours?

Don't expect miracles. The forum has some old threads about this that you can probably see as "similar threads" below. Yes you can construct a stud wall, with a gap between it and the existing wall, with acoustic mineral wool, and possibly acoustic plasterboard on resilient bars. It will make...

    Internal Airbrick Damage - Repair/Replacement

I believe that vent is made from plaster. They are still available but are not common. You could replace it with a metal or plastic one. As there is a gas appliance in the room, you should replace it with one that does not have an open/close control. I also note that it has a fly screen, which...

Why have you replaced the MCB? What exactly are you measuring, and how?
