    Issue with hired electrician

Hi I hired an NICEIC electrician to replace CU and do EICR on a rental property. All communications are documented on whatsapp, price agreed to do CU replace and eicr; texts are clear to include EICR. He came last week to check the works, said he'll do bonding if required and booked for this...

I never do DIY in tenanted properties, I need to hire someone and see what's best, I know either trim or put some angled metal at the back.

    Gap between cooker and wall

I think cooker / worktop is tight fit, seems he didn't cut it straight, he even damaged worktop because wrong/worn blade and no tape. He should have left 2mm gap each side but it's like push fit!

    Gap between cooker and wall

That's the purpose of the post. Splashback angles won't look good plus it's made of vinyl not heat resistant; has to be metal not sure if I can use timber?

    Gap between cooker and wall

This is an old pic of the kitchen with the gas hob, I don't have a close up but can be guessed the hob was sitting on the worktop, but foolishly he cut the worktop part behind the hob; exactly where salt/pepper pots sit in the photo and that's why we have the gap now.

    Gap between cooker and wall

He did it wrong, the worktop was extending behind the cooker area but he carelessly cut it out without doing his calculations; hence we ended by the gap otherwise would have been perfect. There was gas hob before siting on the worktop before.

    Gap between cooker and wall

Then he shouldn't have taken the job, he's been to the property to quote for the works. He knew what's required.

    Gap between cooker and wall

There is nothing behind cooker. I called him, he came he took it out but couldn't push it back and he left as it is, pathetic. He cut plinth with multitool. I was shocked, he was lazy to get jigsaw from the van!

    Gap between cooker and wall

There is no gas pipe, cookers don't go all the way back to the wall. The work top was one piece and he cut the bit behind the cooker.

    Johnstone's Egg shell acrylic paint

It says on the eggshell but doesn't say on the emulsion, matt or silk so should mean something. It's a trial of another paint, it should do better than the ones have tried in the past, the bottom line is whatever I do will fail if tenants don't provide ventilation and heating between Oct to...

    Johnstone's Egg shell acrylic paint

I don't think so, it says resistant to condensation, if gathers condensation on surface then leads to mould, it says mould resistant on the tin, it's similar to bathroom paint and perma white. Better than matt and silk when comes to condensation, matt being the worse. I spoke to Dulux; they...

    Wall Paint Option

That's right, rooms need ventilation and heating in winter otherwise condensation leading to mould. No matter which plaster as is irrelevant. Tenants want to save on heating bills and it's too cold to open windows. I will stick to the same paint dulux vinyl silk as before better than matt.

    Repainting wall

Sorted: Called Dulux they said light sand 180-200g to get the sheen out and paint, no need for primer. A builder came to quote me said needs primer and asked me to get: 20 litre leyland primer, 40 litre wall paint, 20 litre ceiling paint, 20 litre satin paint. Plus bathroom and kitchen paint...
