Agreed. Have told them. My local engineer said he didn't do anything in particular to light it apart from having the front off thr boiler for the service. Maybe I had lit it briefly but couldn't see the flame. Not sure....

All is well now. Local gas bloke came round and ignited it with usual button etc first time. Did my yearly service too whilst there, so all good. No idea what I was doing wrong. Will pick his brains later as was out when he came this morning. I followed the instructions by setting up controller...

Hotpoint bloke didn't even attempt to light it

I did. They said that if I wanted a different engineer, it would be late next week some time. The idiot came back last night and put the grill back in the cooker the correct way round so cooker fine for now. My local engineer coming this morning to hopefully sort the boiler.

I did take it up with Hotpoint who just called him and relayed the message back to me saying that it wasn't his responsibility and he didn't have experience with these boilers anyway. Pretty useless... I'll ask the gas engineer who's hopefully starting the boiler today about getting a valve...

The engineer was from Hotpoint as cooker still under the 1 year warranty. Would like to think they would have checked that. When you say safety restraint, do you mean the chain from the cooker to the wall that we have? Thinking that it might be worth getting a cooker gas isolation valve...

He came round a little while ago and fixed the grill. Apparently he put the grill chassis in the wrong way round. Unbelievable.... Apparently the cooker is fixed now. Just need the boiler bloke to fix that tomorrow....

The cooker was working fine till my wife used the top oven. The entire grill chassis etc just fell into the food. The idiot hadn't done the screws up properly. Unbelievable. So got him coming back again..... Not happy
