New water pipe. Wall looks damp

It is unlikely to cause any significant problem how the pipework has been done. As the entry through the wall has not been sealed then ground water outside could run along the loose fill around the pipe into your wall. Should have been sealed on the outside but cement sealed on the inside may...

    Illegal gas work?!!!

Just been reading some of these 16 pages. I have to admit that I had forgotten the thread even existed. But then since 2009 I have been on 7 cruises and on a few holidays and some wine tours.

Shower Pump intermittent every 10 seconds!

It could be that the shower flow rate is insufficient to keep the flow switch on. You should measure the hot flow at the shower head. The manual should say what flow rate it will turn on at. The one here turns on at just 1 li/min. Now have you been cleaning the shower head holes of lime...

Shower Pump intermittent every 10 seconds!

A test of the flow switch would be to run a tank fed hot tap at about 4 litres per minute. Sometimes shower pumps have an overheat device but that would take a few minutes to get hot after starting. Does yours do this cutting out immediately after it is turned on?

    Vaillant Turbomax 282e diaphragm

I have been reading all this for a bit of fun. But I am surprised that no one mentioned what I have always done and thought was standard practice. That is to start at zero HW flow and SLOWLY increase it until boiler turns on, then to stap and measure the flow rate and compare it with the...

Customer service from main dealers, it is always this bad?

Now I am left wondering what this warranty actually is. My experience, based on friends, is that main dealers treat all customers like idiots and expect to do as much as they can based on the manufacturer's recommendations and do not react well to anyone questioning their expectations. Also...

    Cooker cable?

And probably if you are fussy it ought to be heat resisting! I think a local CEF will cut it but then they are dead helpful there. Only been open a few months but you would think the two guys there owned it they are so helpful.

boiler flues are these here legal?

I noticed it because a few months ago I was reading a very sad report of someone living in sheltered accommodation who wanted a simple 2m colinear so that he could talk to his friends as he could not drive or walk any more. He did the right thing and asked the Manager of the accommodation who...

    Cooker cable?

I was giving some advice to a friend who wants to fit an electric cooker to replace his old gas cooker. He already has a cooker outlet on the wall. I told him he will need about 2m of flexible cable to enable the unit to be pulled out for cleaning ( and initial connection. ) Most electric...

Mystery Fault with Electric Underfloor Heating

That makes me think that you probably have more than one circuit which has some leakage. If the RCD does not reset there must be a leakage current flowing. The associated neutrals also have to be connected to the correct RCD group. My first approach would be to examine how this UFH is...

Boiler turning off after startup. Need a new PCB?

Are you quite sure it is F70 ? That is an unusual error and could indicate a faulty PCB. However the video of the boiler makes me think that it is attempting to fire up three times and then stopping. But that would then give a fault code and stay on whereas your display just fades away. You...

    Hotspur Oil Boiler

Has it been serviced regularly? Oil boilers do need regular servicing to ensure the pump pressure is correct and the air filter is clean. An orange flame can mean it is getting sooted up and that can be quite a job to clean out after the combustion issue has been fixed.

    Smell of gas from boiler?

If there is a smell of gas from the flue then that may be because the gas is not lighting immediately. That can be due to delayed spark starting, ignition electrodes not correctly placed, fault or blockage in gas carrying parts close to the ignition point. Most modern boilers feed gas to the...

    Strange hot water flow issue

Some unventeds have a large plastic disc which floats on the water to create an air gap to absorb expansion. But I have never heard of one breaking up and I did not think that your make used them and has a separate white expansion vessel.

Solar Thermal System Issue: Can anyone help?

My initial thoughts were that there could be air trapped at the top of the collectors. You then implied that you "trust" the professional to have correctly expelled the air. Perhaps I would be less trusting?

For some time the passenger seat ratchet has not been locking the seat. However the driver's seat is also not locking now. Probably something simple like a pen jammed into it Any tips on what to look for and how to find the cause?

Er yes. But I did say that the chipboard is not screwed or nailed down. So I am looking for an electronic capacitive type! Anyone have any recommendations?
