Damp behind kitchen units, will another plinth vent help?

Thanks, how would I solve it? I'm.not sure how to attach anything to the cast iron pipe, so all I can think of is to use a longer gutter and point it away from the house. Is that the answer?

Damp behind kitchen units, will another plinth vent help?

Yes, I'm not sure if this is the problem It's an old cottage, there's just one downpipe for all 4 houses, which comes down behind my kitchen. It just runs out behind the house, I vaguely remember asking on here some time ago and I should add a gutter to move it further away from the house?

Damp behind kitchen units, will another plinth vent help?

I have an old stone cottage I could smell damp behind the kitchen units, I'm wondering if I should add another plinth vent to improve ventilation behind there? Or should I try to seal it off more so I can't smell it? Eg remove the existing plinth vent?

How can I fit a gate to this gap please

Ideally I don't want to drill into the concrete posts, I'm thinking maybe fix wooden posts with a bracket or metal strapping of some sort to the concrete ones, to screw the gate hinges and bolt to the wooden post.

Shouod I fit an inspection hatch in plastrboard loft wall?

Hi, I have an old stone terraced house which had the loft boarded and plastered when I bought it. I can't see the beams at the edges to check they aren't going rotten, also it would be good to add some insulation in there if possible. Should I buy some kind of large access panel to fit in both...

How can I ventilate a loft room?

Thanks, it's boarded and plastered and has a velux window, and solid wooden ladder that has always been accessible to the tenants. I'll look into fire regs, that hadn't occurred to me tbh.

How can I ventilate a loft room?

Hi, I have a loft room that has no insulation. Because it can get cold in winter tenants often close the hatch and leave it like that which can cause some damp condensation issues. Is there some way of preventing this please? Possibly some ventilation?

Is it normal for a velux window to leak when open?

I hardly ever open it but water was pouring in from the top when it was open and it was raining. I guess because it pivots back there is nowhere else for the water to go, so maybe they just can't be left open when it's raining? Thanks

Would a stainless steel strip at the back of the worktop help it seal better?

Thanks for your help, it's a rental property and silicone only lasts so long, they don't tell me it's leaking and then it's new worktop time. I was thinking this may be belt and braces, which is what I try to go for.
