UPDATE
The expensive one rung me up and he said he can do 2 roofs for £14500 including gutters fascia and soffits in the second property as the first already done it so basically two roofs for £13200.( £5500 per roof plus vat )
I'm thinking of raising it up to 650mm despite the book saying minimum 550mm.
Do I need to raise the hood all the way to the ceiling fo aesthetics or any practical reason or doesn't matter you think?
That's so true for the expensive quote. He mainly does gutters, fascias and soffits and they are booked up for months plus they have a trade shop where they are selling plastics.
Sorry there are 16 rows per side I think more like 832 tiles plus ridge tiles.
The £7800 asked me to give him cash but this is a BTL company so i don't deal with cash as I need invoices for HMRC.
So the price includes VAT.
I did not ask the second one if he is VAT registered but they are a...
I guess that’s the best thing to do. I don’t quite understand how trade people can quote jobs so far apart. In the end of the day it is 576 tiles timber battons, two three rolls of felting the verge the ridges and sundries, screws nails etc.
I’ve done a couple of small re-roofs 6-7 years ago and they cost around £3000 each.
Now I have this bungalow and had two quotes one being double the price of the other.
The one that is double is by a company that did my gutters and they are fantastic but they try to go into re roofs. The other...
Yes it is fed from lights, i switched the lights off from the CU and it went off!
Good point I will print some warnings with my label printer.
I'm tempted to install an MK weatherproof socket so it is sealed against moisture and grease.
Sorry one more question is it better to flash the switched socket or can I leave it surface mount as it is. It’s only on 1.5mm cable and fed from the lights.
My electrician did not put an isolator for the cooker hood.
It’s all plastered now and painted.
Now this is a recirculate hood and it is open at the top.
Can I leave a normal socket as he did and if there is a fault all we need is to climb up a chair and reach for the switch as o can put it...
Ok mistery solved the cylinder had a little grub screw that wouldn’t let it out. I had to remove the two hex screws to remove the Sbd plate as it would not otherwise remove it either from the front or from the back.
I'm having a new kitchen install and use 40mm a Mcalpine trap with a small 40mm pipe run ending in a compression elbow going to the waste pipe.
Do you use solvent weld or push fit pipe that connects to the compression part of the trap?
It probably doesn't matter but what would you do?
I’m wondering if there are any problems with using push fit fittings and copper pipe that has been stamped as in photo. Could these engravings on the copper pipe allow tiny amount of water to pass through? I might be getting paranoid but they did not use to stamp the pipes. I bought this from...
I am trying to replace this cylinder and don’t seem to be able to. I have done on all other UPVC doors in the house but this one refuses to come out is a new door only one year old. The tenant replaced the keys.
I can turn the key ok and it locks fine.
I have even removed the handle.
Could...
